Is it possible to injury the pectoral while doing medium grip pullups ? I understood this to be mainly a back, rear shoulder, and bicep exercise.

I don’t know if injure is the right word, but I bothered my pec a while back doing pullups. Was doing weighted pulls, a lot of them every session, and my right lat kind of locked up on me. This caused my entire shoulder area to knot up, including upper pec (right at underarm area). Even though it was my lat that strained, I felt it most in my pec. A lot of mobility work, foam, and bands helped me through it. Took a while though. I never really thought about form when doing pulls or chins before this, but I can see now that internally rotating through heavy pulls, vs. keeping things straight up and down through the elbows and back is probably what caused it.

Yes, you can.
