PCT Back In The Day

I understand the general view is that some lifters starting experimenting with steroids in the mid-late 50’s and that from about 1960 onwards they were common knowledge in the bb fraternity, and so commonly used - especially dianabol.

So back in the 60’s and 70’s what did PCT look like? Anyone know, i dont know what was around then so it may have been as it is today.

just interested.

To my knowledge PCT wasn’t used back then. Most weren’t using high doses anyway. The ones that took high doses and needed a PCT were outta luck. Not a bad question at all.

As said the general practice was to use low doses. I’m pretty sure they also tapered up and down their doses.

What would tapering up do for you? And reason they would do that?

It doesn’t have as great of an impact on SHBG increases. I doubt they knew this (nor is it really that big of an impact on results) and probably did it just to be safe, sort of like clen pyramid dosing. I guess if you do it once and it works, and you tell everyone else how to do it, it just sort of catches on.

Thanks folks. I guess they did without, possibly just suffered the consequences and got on with things. Perhaps using dianabol for 10-20mg a day for 2-4 weeks doesnt shut a man down too badly, or it would have got a bad rap back then. I doubt they were on all the time either, from various interviews i’ve read of the golden era guys who do talk about steroids - an dianabol is the most mentioned.

Also with a half life in hours it may be that the feedback loop gets mixed messages during the day and doesnt shut down as completely as with longer term injectables.

As many of them got steroids from their doctors the tapering may have been the doctors idea, its what docs do with medicinal corticosteroids.
