Patriotism in Germany after a Nazi Past?

If I’m reading this correctly you’re advocating an one-state solution? Oh dear.

No. I am not advocating a one or 2 state silution. I am saying Arab Muslims and Israeli Jews can and do live together peacefully. And if that’s possible on a small level, it’s possible on a larger scale. Be it 2 states or one. Or even 3 states.

Didn’t Croatians, Serbians, Bosnians, live together peacefully?

For a while…

At the crossroads of two (three) major empires and on the fault lines of three major religions? Short answer - not really.

In cases like this, under all that “peaceful living” facade there is always a dominant ethnic/religious groups that’s actually running the show with varying degrees of oppression thrown in the mix. Yugoslavia had, for example, one of the more hellish open-air prison camps for those who didn’t toe the Party line for varying reasons.

It may not be immediately visible to outsiders but it’s plain as daylight to local players, and the simmering hatred and grudges is waiting to come out to the surface. Case in point - Syria.

Yugoslavia - Serbs, Syria - quasi-Shiite Alawites, Iraq - Sunnis from Tikrit, USSR - Russians, modern day South Africa - Zulus, there’s always a dominant group holding the reins of power behind supposed lofty slogans that religion and ethnicity (or race) “don’t matter”.

I was being sarcastic. They didn’t have much choice.
