Yeah it has. Should be for rehab not punishment though. Don’t get me wrong some men and women are impossible to be reasoned with but I think this country lacks compassion and forgiveness.
I’m not talking about saving the day. I’m talking about not fucking the day up in the first place.
My day will be totally fine. I got off to a good start by deciding not to do anything that will lead to easily predicted bad outcomes. Here I am in my office right now, safe and sound because I didn’t press my face to the stove this morning.
Not touching the hot stove seems like an obvious course of action, much like staffing and supporting the police.
You guys in the USA tend to suffer from massive swings in the political pendulum leading to ham fisted, knee jerk agendas.
There is no happy medium, it either is or it isn’t… One side is right and one side is wrong. At least that appears to be the mentality many have.
The matter of the fact is things aren’t usually as black and white as they appear, and dogpiling on the dogmatic “my side is right, the left/right or whatever are degenerate scum” rhetoric further deepens the divide currently present.
A happy medium typically triumphs over extremes.

The induction of crack cocaine into impoverished communities and CIA funding of contras who distributed and smuggled cocaine into the USA whilst the US government purportedly turned a blind eye during the time of the Raegan administration certainly didn’t help… All the while sentencing for possession skyrocketed due to increasingly harsh and hypocritically draconian legislature associated with possession.
While we are at it… Why was/is the penalty for possession of crack cocaine that much harsher comparative to powder cocaine?
The demographics of those arrested and incarcerated for possession at the time almost disproportionately affected minorities despite demographics using not representing such a disparity. Not to say the systemic racism boogeyman is still highly omnipresent today, but I do believe it was still an issue during the 1980’s.

You can have a happy medium on things like tax rates, funding for services, and even gun policy. The entire point of modern Democrat policy is that there is increasingly less room for a happy medium. Their entire history involves dividing the country on issues with little to no room for a “happy medium”.

The left is concerned with human rights while the right is concerned with making the most money. It’s a good thing the younger generation is left-leaning. Quality of life will get better.

Because Americans, as a people, are like children when compared to other people in the world. Sicilians have existed for thousands of years; Americans a couple of centuries. Add to that the isolation brought about by an ocean. In Sicily they know that all politicians are the enemy and don’t see any difference between them and the feudal lords who preceded them. They have a proverb: the dog always bites the poor man. Americans have an unhealthy sense of hope.
Leftists have no power. Big corporations are the ones with power.

I know. We saw that in St. Louis, Philadelphia, Baltimore, etc. the past 30 years. It’s why the prisons have been closing down; there are no criminals to put in there.

I can’t name any racist policies. What bothers me is the racial wage gap. Why do blacks and Latinos make so much less. Why are they always living in crime filled areas? I do believe the education system is inherently racist.
History seems to be distorted and changed which is very annoying. America’s history is horrible.
