Yes and no. History has demonstrated in the not too distant past that Presidents with high poll ratings because of military, or foreign affairs success do not necessarily get reelected. Bush Sr. drove the Iraqi troops out of Kuwait and his poll numbers if memory serves were between 85% - 90%. Months later the economy completely tanked and Bill Clinton was elected President.
With that said, I’ve been stating for 4 months now that Obama will be reelected short of a miracle. However, by the time the election rolls around killing Bin Laden will not be the reason that Obama wins.
As I’ve been saying, Obama wins because he is a really good candidate and, from what I’ve seen so far, the republicans don’t have such a candidate.
Some may disagree but I’ve found that presidential elections are won and lost based more on the candidate than any potential record that the incumbent must run on. And that happens for a myriad of reasons too numerous to go into on this thread.
