And let’s remember that Osama had so many doubles. That could have been anyone.

Comparing his DNA to his dead sister’s as proof is not enough. It may show some similarities but that is 100% him? I don’t think so…

Maybe someone more clued up on the DNA can clear this up for me, please.
My thing is doesn’t it take at least a couple days to do DNA tests or does the government have access to technology the general public doesn’t? (kinda a dumb question, yes, but still valid)
PonceDeLeon wrote:

How will we ever know that was him?

Given how many doubles Saddam Hussein had, I’m inclined to believe Bin Laden had at least a few himself (also given how wealthy he was).

The greatest impact this news could have would be on bringing Americans together and distracting from other issues, legit or not. Why announce it if it might put our troops at greater risk?
Come back to the NBA thread…

But nah bro announcing his death is the best thing the US could have done. Bravo in my book. Listen, you don’t think every American solder is pumped as shit right now? These motheruckers probably feel unbeatable now. Yeah I know I say that then one guy trips a road side bomb but fuck, the solders “over there” are fully aware they are in a WAR. They went over there with the possibility they might not be coming back.

Bottom line is, you have no evidence that Osama’s death will cause some major jihadist assault. Why would they attack the strongest of their enemy (the US military) anyway? Wouldn’t it make sense to go after American citizens living abroad. I think US authorities are more worried about that, which is why they’ve issued warnings to Americans overseas.

Regardless, no doubt the military is under the same clout of caution. I’d also like to say that even if there is some immediate retaliation against US forces it might be a ‘healthy’ thing. You know, weed them out, so to speak. At the cost of lives I know, but again, this is a war, fully initiated by the US, who bears all responsibility.

Apparently the intelligence on his wherabouts really hit high ground atleast two years ago with the juicy stuff coming in August last year. If it took them this long between then to go ahead an attack so you have to believe that it was infact Osama living in that mansion. This is all assuming you have confidence in US intelligence.

As in any hornet’s nest, kill the queen and the hive will create a new one.

They say he was hiding in a Mansion in Pakistan. What. the. Fuck. If the rumor is true that the Pakis were hiding him, what should be done about them?
If you think that’s disturbing, here’s this news from last week’s WSJ about Pakistan trying to sway Afghanistan against building ties with the US, but urging them to instead ally themselves with Pakistan and China.

?????¢??The pitch was made at an April 16 meeting in Kabul by Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, who bluntly told Afghan President Hamid Karzai that the Americans had failed them both, according to Afghans familiar with the meeting,?????¢?? the newspaper said. ?????¢??Mr. Karzai should forget about allowing a long-term U.S. military presence in his country, Mr. Gilani said, according to the Afghans. Pakistan?????¢??s bid to cut the U.S. out of Afghanistan?????¢??s future is the clearest sign to date that, as the nearly 10-year war?????¢??s endgame begins, tensions between Washington and Islamabad threaten to scuttle America?????¢??s prospects of ending the conflict on its own terms.?????¢??

Lets hope we don’t end up with a war going on in yet another Middle Eastern country.

I really like the way you think. If most people only knew(I guess they missed the analysis and reports for the last 10 years) the amount of resistance that Pakistan has put forth on behalf of al-quaida, they would be wondering why we weren’t launching on Pakistan.

They have been doing everything within their means since this began to thwart our efforts to take down Bin Laden. I would bet that if Pakistan wasn’t nuclear capable we would have had him in Tora Bora.

That aside,
It is a wonderful occasion that such an asshole has been wiped off of the face of the earth.
It’s just a shame that we can only kill him once.
Like I said, something HAS to be done with Pakistan. Theres no way in hell that they didnt know about him hiding there. Fuck thoese guys.
Perfect. The country is in major debt so what is there to do? invade another country.
Why Invade when we can push another country into war that hates Paki more than we do? India.
You’re a fucking idiot

Wait, so why exactly are you all so happy that bin Laden’s dead? Don’t tell me you all believe that he was responsible for 9/11…

The news just reported they have already buried him at sea? WTF? It’s the biggest story in years and in less than a day they just throw him off a boat? Could they even get him back to the states in that amount of time? This is how conspiracy theories begin.

They should at least release a bloody picture of Osama like they did of Saddam Hussein’s children

What else are they going to do with the body? Examine it to derive cause of death? Bringing his body to the US would just invite a whole lot of trouble. I’m pretty sure they would have taken pictures of the body…

Oh here it is:

EDIT: It appears to be fake

They should of lit his ass on fire after they stuck a stick of dynamite up his ass.

According to Muslim law, he needs to be buried within 24 hours. However, the Muslims don’t much like him either so they threw him off the boat.

You will regret this post when the THC clears.

Youre a real piece of shit if you think a military mission to take out a mass murderer is the same as orchestrating the death of 4000 civilians.

Youre a real piece of shit.

There’s some real bullshit going on here. That photo is a BLATANT Photoshop job, and a terrible one at that.

Yeah, most Americans are stupid and will believe it without question or corroborating facts… and that’s just how our government wants us.

^^ I think that photo shop might just mean that some tabloid journalist in the Middle East made it as a shitty ‘speculation’…not that the US government released it as official.

Yeah, I’m sure there are many fakes to come.

Truth is that Bin Laden could’ve been dead years ago and we’d never know. Anyone who says otherwise is obviously a conspiracy theorist.

I still stand by my 2nd statement.

I wouldn’t pay him much mind, eeu743 sounds like he’s trying too hard to sound like the enlightened goatee-stroking intellectual who’s above petty beer-swilling, pork rind eating uneducated brutes such as me and you.
We’re going to hear a lot of people saying stuff like this for the next few days.

I agree.

DBCooper said something similar to the effect that Bin Laden could have been dead for a while, but since Obama’s low poll ratings, he’s announcing the death now. Funny thing is, the same things were murmured during Bush’s years in that Bin Laden was already dead, but it was never reported because Bush needed a villain to keep his wars going.

Politics is politics.

And to be fair, it’s not that far fetched. I think Bin Laden has been a great ‘excuse’ for a lot of things.
