Also, she obviously does care about her image, she did pose in a picture with a cigarette. Im assuming as a singer she doesn’t smoke, but she posed with the cigarette to give of a certain image. I guess I did do a little assuming, I will never know the context in which she said this, or the way she said it. And Im not saying its wrong for her to speak her mind, I just feel its unnecessary to single out a person or body type while doing so. When you put yourself out there as a public figure, everything you say gets dissected and scrutinized. Im not saying its right, but that is how it goes.

Absolutely agree.
She has stated in just about every interview i’ve seen, that she knows that both her diet and smoking are not good for her. Last I heard, she had quit smoking, since it screws with her voice. Plus, she has a ton of other things in her life that she has to worry about and she’s doing the best that she can at the moment.

If I was constantly scrutinized for my looks, i’d be telling people to suck my dick on a regular basis. As much as she’s been interviewed lately, she deserves some slack for saying something stupid. Her schedule is insane, i’m sure.

Initially I found the quote annoying, but upon reflection I reached this exact conclusion. I doubt this was an unprovoked thing; rather, she’s just pissed about constantly being asked about her weight, and she overreacted in saying, “my goal is never to be skinny.” I seriously doubt she really feels that way.
She obviously puts her music first, which is what any great musician does. I have no problem with that. I also really enjoyed the song this thread prompted me to listen to, so I guess what she’s doing works. Nicole Ritchie is a convenient target due to her skeletal appearance, and frankly she’s just as bad as any fatty who can’t accept responsibility for their weight, so I don’t care that she was singled out at all.
