What are the thoughts here on Nitrean by AtLarge Nutrition as mentioned earlier. I am currently using Isoflex, but am thinking about picking up some Nitrean because of the blend, any reviews?
I tried it a while back, but I believe there have been changes to the formula since. At the time I wasn’t impressed.
When I want a product like this I usually go with Metabolic Drive Complete (choc).

Muscle Milk is good. I know there are alot of haters here but there is a reason why its one of the top 3 selling supplements. It works and tastes the best. If price isnt an issue then buy it. I use it as a meal replacement and preworkout shake
NO Xplode is a top seller too, so that logic is faulty. Marketing has more to do with supplement sales than actual results usually.
I used to love MM, then they changed formulas and MD tastes better IMO, at least with the new change of MM.
The Costco version is not regular muscle milk. Price is good. I read the label remeber thinking it was pretty similar to MD for about the same price, but don’t quote me on that. Check for yourself, or take a pic of the label and post it on here.
My costco also has a CFM whey isolate for about $10 a pound. I bought it before and it was pretty good, but it used fructose as the sweetener so I said F that and never bought it again. What were they thinking mixing a good quality protein with fructose!?
Costco also sells a few other protein poweders, drinks, and even these jello shooters. They’re all crap though and have soy, gelatin, etc as one of the main ingredients. Who purchases for Costco anyways? They need somebody that knows what the F they are doing. Oh well. They’re still my favorite store.
I’ve been using Syntha6 for the last 3 months. I love the taste, especially in water.
Over the last 5-10 years, I’ve probably used 8-10 different types of protein. Syntha6 is by far the best tasting, even though it’s not the highest quality. However, honestly, I haven’t noticed a difference in body composition or performance-wise between the different types of protein. Then again, I’m also not a competitive bodybuilder, just a fitness enthusiast.
This is just my opinion, but for the average weightlifter, I think too much attention is paid to the “quality” of protein. If you’re a bodybuilder or elite athlete, then it definitely makes a difference. But if you’re just a weekend warrior or a guy trying to bench 400 pounds, from a cost-effectiveness approach, it just doesn’t make that big of a difference. Once again, that’s just my opinion. I don’t have any research to back it up.
I was on a cycle of it for a few months last winter. Yeah…it tastes ok…and it’s awesome when you make it into a pudding…but I think Metabolic Drive and Grow! Whey tastes better overall and is much better for you anyway. Not to sound like a Biotest whore…but that’s simply how it is IMO.
And y’all are lucky, because I can’t have whey/casein anymore. So enjoy it, danget!
I vaguely recall an article here on Testosterone, a while back, where the author said Muscle Milk contained a compound that was iffy as far as safety. It may have been an interview, or one of those multi-topic articles (it wasn’t just about Muscle Milk).
Maybe they have changed the formula since then.
If it’s considered good or at least decent, I’d like to know, because it’s sold in a lot of the convenience stores in my area, and I’ve been passing it by, most of the time.

I remember that article but forget the specific compound they were talking about. A few months after the article came out, Muscle Milk had its formula changed and it no longer contained that particular compound.
I took Muscle Milk for about a year everyday post workout and while it tastes great, I noticed I gained quite a bit of fat around my stomach. I was on the same basic diet before and have always been pretty lean. As soon as I quit taking it I lost my belly fat within 2-3 months. After that I just quit taking protein all together and I just cook a shit load of chicken breast every week and if I need some protein I just eat one of those.
So, I bought it. It is very different from the Muscle Milk you all are describing. It has about 2g of fat and same with carbs. It’s really fucking tasty too. I will chime in after a while to let anyone who was paying attention know about my experiences. Thanks.
If anyone out there was following. My conclusion is actually inconclusive. In the pasts 3 months, I have gained 30lbs. The vast majority of which has been lean. Now, maybe a month or 3 weeks ago, I ran out of MM and replaced it with whole food.
I have no reason to believe that my gains were due specifically to the use of MM as I have never eaten or trained as consistantly or intensely as I have in the past 3 months. I will continue experimenting with protein powders. I think once I get some cash, I’ll try out Pro Complex by ON. Add some nut butter and eggs.
Can’t you read a label? What you see at Costco is called Protein +. It is not the original Muscle Milk formula. It is a low-carb, isolated milk protein powder - very similar to their EvoPro powder. It is the proteins found in Muscle Milk with nothing else. If you are looking for a straight protein product, this is a good option.
