I am wondering if anyone knows of a “downfall” to wearing olympic lifting shoes when not performing olympic lifts. I am particularly interested in any opinions to the use of olympic lifting shoes when performing front squats. I own several pairs of chuck’s and typically use them for my lowerbody movements, especially deadlifts. For the record I am not interested in trying to use olympic lifting shoes for deadlifts. Any thoughts relating to flexibility issues, etc. would be appreciated.
I wear OL shoes for all my workouts, but I make sure to include OHS as a part of my warmup in regular sneakers, and finish my workout with reps of OHS barefooted. That way I know I will always have more ankle flexibility than I need, and they don’t get used to only the ROM with OL shoes.
I like the philosophy Kroll.
