The SEC rocks. The serendipitous coincidence is that I think Meyer was the one at the beginning of the season complaining that the SEC was so tough that lack of a playoff was unfair. I guess LSU and Fla made the point on the field as well.

I won’t take anything away from FLA’s amazing ass womping, but WTF - bragging about beating ND, that’s like bragging about nailing the town slut

There will never be a playoff system in College Football, there is too much money involved in the bowl system and having a playoff would lessen the meaning of the lower (3 vs 4, 5 vs 6) bowl games garnering less interest, less viewers, less sponsorship, etc.

Don’t you think that everyone that watches them now would still watch them, plus others who couldn’t care less about the two schools but want to see how the playoffs unfold?

  1. Florida
  2. Boise State
  3. LSU
  4. USC
  5. Ohio State

That’s how I see it. I also think that I would have loved to have seen an LSU/USC matchup.

No shit. We here were chomping at the bit for a chance at the Rose Bowl. It was pretty diappointing to not get the nod.

Yeah, but I still don’t ever see it happening…didn’t think we’d get as far as a national championship game every year so I’m probably wrong, but I don’t think it will happen.

No shit, there was a lot of swearing with the guys I watched that announcement with.

Oh, and on behalf of the SEC. See the above image.

That’d be pretty difficult, since the Rose Bowl is the winner of the Pac-10 and Big-10 (unless one of them is getting their asses kicked in the Nat’l Championship game, then it’s the runner up)

Well that’s true, but this year it looked as if Michigan was to play Ohio, leaving Fla to play ND and LSU to play USC. It was the closest shot we had. And while I thoroughly enjoyed watching LSU stomp ND, I would have loved to see the Tigers in the Rose Bowl, just because they haven’t been.

The Big 10 has a weak conference and NO championship game.

The SEC is a much stronger conference, has a championship game.

Florida also played more games for the year than Ohio State did.

The fact that both Ohio State AND Michigan both got their A$$ES kicked should tell you something.

The BCS sucks, we need a playoff system, which Ohio State would have lost in the 1st round and Florida could have actually played someone with some talent.

Everyone who thinks Ohio State is any good watches ESPN. ESPN has a contract with the Big 10 conference to air those games. Yes, ESPN has a vested interest in seeing Big 10 schools do well in order to boost their own ratings.

ESPN does not have a deal with the SEC, hence, they don’t pump up the Gators like they do Ohio State.

Ohio State lost to Florida in basketball and football this year. Maybe Ohio State could beat Florida at something like snow shoveling. On second thought, they probably couldn’t do that either.

GO GATORS!!!

Hahahaha!! I was wondering when a true Gator fan would chime in.

The Big 10 got out played in 2 games against great teams, but to say its a weak conference is ridiculous. Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Penn, Iowa, and Purdue are consitently ranked in the top 20 - doesn’t sound too weak to me.

You do make a valid point about ESPN (being from Wisconsin, I hate Corso and Herbstreit as much as anyone else).

And, yes you’re right, the BCS does suck. Wisconsin’s 6th and they can’t get a BCS game cause two other Big 10s are playing? If you’re going to take the time to create a BS ranking system, at least have the common sense to put the teams you rank into your games.

Sorry Bub, you’re deluded. OSU is not as good as you people think they are.

I agree, although I do think it would have been a different game had it been played 6 weeks ago. I’m not saying OSU would have won, but I don’t think it would have been the blowout that it was.[/quote]

I defintely agree with statement. It was damn near two months before the bowl game. I’m michigan fan so I hate ohio state. I thought it was funny how the papers was touting sec’s speed and the first play Ginn burns all of them for 93 yard TD. Too bad he didn’t play the rest of the way …which i think Ginn jr being injured has a little to do with the near 2 month lay off… I give my hat off to Meyer that guy knows how to plan a game! now if he could only coach for Michigan…

Am I missing something? Both teams had a long lay-off.
And Ginn’s injury had everything to do with his teammate tackling him and messing up his ankle in the post kick-off return TD celebration.

Exctly. The excuse that OSU had a long layoff is weak and a cop-out. Both teams practiced their asses off for this game. That was made clear during the pregame stuff.

And that should teach a lesson to those that celebrating can be a stupid thing to do.

Agreed, I know of a few cases were people were hurt while celebrating. It’s just dumb.

Personally, I think OSU mailed this one in, but forgot the stamp.

PGA, was this you?

Just a note: Practice does a piss-poor job of mimicking a true game situation.

Nobody will hit you as hard in practice as an opponent will in the game.

Ohio State looked like they were rusty, and they just plain-out got knocked in the mouth, couldn’t recover, and just purely got out-played.

I think people are making too much of ‘what happened’. Remember a couple years ago when Nebraska was 1 game from going into the National Championship against Miami, and they got raped by a mediocre Colorado team by like 50 points?

Sometimes teams just play poorly on a day where the opponent plays amazing.

If only they would have just admitted that instead of blaming injuries and game spacing.
