People (including the “last stander” Mormon idiots in Oregon) don’t seem to understand the concept of asymmetrical warfare — that is, don’t fight the Army, fight who supports the Army, the infrastructure, the money, their families back home in crappy apartments off base.
Widespread firearms in the USA – again, assuming some sort of slide into non-benevolent dictatorship/oligarchy – would be best used is an asymmetrical fight. Given the depth and widespread nature of small arms in the USA, it would make any dictatorship ungovernable, very quickly. (Not to mention explosives that can easily be made with a trip to the pool supply store/Home Depot/Lowes.)
This is why statists hate firearms. It promotes independence.
The statists’ dream is to ban firearms for law abiding people. This will result in a massive uptick in violent crime on normal people who are now defenseless in their homes. There would be a quick and reasonable call for massive police increase, massive monitoring increase, etc to stop the violent criminals.
The result, of course, is that police state would be turned on the citizens, and they’d become slaves to the rich and elite.
I agree. That’s why gun related crime is much higher in countries with gun control, like most countries in Europe, than in the US.

If you compare white populations to white populations, the USA has the same murder rate as Belgium. It’s not a gun problem, it’s a demographic problem.
And before you accuse me of being racist, I’m not remotely white. I grew up on (and live next to) the Mescalero reservation in NM and am a card-carrying member of the tribe.
Exactly. Strip the people of their means to protect themselves and you create a society of victims completely dependent on the state for their safety while at the same time ensuring they will not have the means to resist an oppressive government.
