Obama Seeks 'Assault' Weapons Ban

So you expect us to believe that British gun owners would rather die than use a gun to defend themselves. Oookaaay.
Most of the guns were kept in gun clubs, not in people’s homes. Why do you find it so difficult to accept that not everyone equates keeping themselves safe with owning a gun?

Even a chunk of the people in your own country don’t agree with you on this point so why is it hard for you to accept that most people in the UK have never even considered the fact that they can’t buy a gun.

The violent crime is not increased or decreased by the guns. The violent crime is increased or decreased by the attitude. I am pretty sure you agree with me on this point. Where we differ is that I don’t see the need to have a gun. Even if I was allowed by law to buy one here in Mexico, I wouldn’t.

Because they can, most of the gun crime in the UK is between drugs gangs. The gangs get the guns because the other gangs have guns. Then the local gangs get guns because they want to be gangster.

If the general public also had guns, this would not decrease the criminals desire to get guns. It would probably increase it.

[quote
I thought you said that if the government made it illegal to own guns then there would be less guns in the community. Surely the criminals must feel ashamed of themselves that they are using such an underhanded and illegal tactic to gain an unfair advantage. I must say I am absolutely shocked that British criminals would do such a thing.
{/quote]

There are less guns in the community in the UK than the US. Considerably less.
I must admit the Mein Kampf readings have been taking up most of my time… How did you know about that? Did Just the Facts tell you? Or was it Terrace Lad?
I just figured that having swallowed Nick Griffen’s horse shit you would have continued on to the source.
But if it’s illegal why would they do that? If their intended victims cannot have guns to shoot back them wouldn’t the criminals feel ashamed of themselves. It seems very unfair. The British are the worlds fairest people. Why would British criminals do such a thing? Something doesn’t sound right.

Can you explain why they do this Cock?

See above.

The times (though it annoyed me increasingly.

The observer

The independent

and of course the two bastions of all that is terrible in UK journalism, the Standard and the Metro.

Oh and if I was in that neck of the woods The M.E.N. for news on City.

Exactly, that is what I have been saying throughout this thread. Now stop trying to hijack it. You actually agree with me on the point being discussed in this thread. Why are you picking an argument?

As personal opinion, it’s probably easier to treat English words just as Chinese characters must be: not “it is this because of these rules” but “this is what it is.”

More like a statement of fact isn’t it?

He didn’t attack him for anything, he merely pointed out he is deficient in certain areas and asked a question that is relevant.

This board has been over run by trolls and sock puppets in the past year or two. That’s what has driven a lot of folks away.

this following quote really bothered me.

“I met yesterday with Attorney General Medina Mora of MEXICO, and we discussed the unprecedented levels of violence HIS country is facing because of their enforcement efforts,” he said.

notice how they’re talking about the “unprecedented levels of violence in MEXICO”. what in the hell does that have to do with the United States of America? I could give a fuck about the violence in mexico, or afghanistan, or israel, or any place else. its just another excuse to violate our rights.

Haha, I’m fairly sure I can guess what you want out of me, but you’ll have to try on someone else. I’m very much opposed to the monarchy. I think it should die when the Queen does.

/thread hijack.

No, you gave me exactly the answer I was looking for. You just don’t seem to realize it.

Cool, well obviously I didn’t, care to enlighten me?

Otherwise I am very much enjoying and learning from the debate.

Here it is, brothers and sisters. A new one. And it’s not just “assault weapons,” it’s everything.

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:H.R.45.IH:

“Oh, but they’re not banning anything,” you say, “just licensing and registering. Just like your car.”

Yeah, well, the government does not have a vested interest in restricting the ownership of motor vehicles. It does have a vested interest in disarming the populace.

And licensing and registration is only the first step.

Write to your congressman. This will not stand.

That’s absolutely sickening.

And this is relevent to Obama bringing forward a plan to ban a subset of firearms in the US how?

Just sent an Email to my COngressmen Steve Israel… yeah. If he votes nay I’ll eat my left slipper.

Somehow, I don’t feel like I’ve accomplished anything =/

Maybe I’ll write an article for the conservative newspaper… as if anyone actually reads it besides me…

/sigh

Peanuts.

US ‘loses’ 190,000 weapons in Iraq
August 01, 2007
THE US Government cannot account for 190,000 weapons issued to Iraqi security forces in 2004 and 2005, says the Government Accountability Office.

According to its July 31 report, the military “cannot fully account for about 110,000 AK-47 assault rifles, 80,000 pistols, 135,000 items of body armour and 115,000 helmets reported as issued to Iraqi forces”.

US in Secret Gun Deal
12 May 2006
Small arms shipped from Bosnia to Iraq ‘go missing’ as Pentagon uses dealers

The Pentagon has secretly shipped tens of thousands of small arms from Bosnia to Iraq in the past two years, using a web of private companies, at least one of which is a noted arms smuggler blacklisted by Washington and the UN.

According to a report by Amnesty International, which investigated the sales, the US government arranged for the delivery of at least 200,000 Kalashnikov machine guns from Bosnia to Iraq in 2004-05. But though the weaponry was said to be for arming the fledgling Iraqi military, there is no evidence of the guns reaching their recipient…

Some of the firms used in the Pentagon sponsored deals were also engaged in illegal arms shipments from Serbia and Bosnia to Liberia and to Saddam Hussein four years ago.

“The sale, purchase, transportation and storage of the [Bosnian] weapons has been handled entirely by a complex network of private arms brokers, freight forwarders and air cargo companies operating at times illegally and subject to little or no governmental regulation,” says the report.

Missing US arms probe goes global
WASHINGTON - The issue of missing US weapons in Iraq is getting, as Alice said in Wonderland, curiouser and curiouser. What started out as a mere report documenting improper bookkeeping procedures for assault rifles and pistols given by the Pentagon to Iraqi security forces in 2004 and 2005 is turning into an international scandal.

If you want to prolong a war, it looks better if the insurgents aren’t using registered, American made weapons.

I don’t know if you guys have been watching CNN, but according to them our lack of gun control is causing Mexican cartels to be armed with deadly firepower.

I suppose they want us to solve this problem by having strict gun control…like Mexico…

CNN is fucking retarded. It’s not OUR gun control that causes the problems in gangs FROM MEXICO, not the US. They’re crossing the border into the States, not going from the States to Mexico. And besides, all the guns (and grenade launchers) they’re using are already illegal here.

Well, given the topic of this thread, I’ll guess they lacked guns, ammunition, and training.

Like guys who move tons of cocaine and heroin which is already illegal cannot find any guns, explosives or bullets. This administration is retarded. Like guys with millions can’t hire mercs or talk to arms dealers.
