I can’t imagine anything that would make me miss sitting in class listening to those types.
Since it’s you I believe this
Fair. I’d assume you too were a teenager who a.) violated your own share of rules or b.) was vaguely aware of said rules but didn’t care to really understand them. Not saying either of those are the case here, but they could be, and I’m sure you can put yourself in their shoes.
I don’t think they did it to “intentionally flaunt the rules” no … but kids do what kids do so who knows
This whole story seems far less a egregious than every other teen story. I had a ‘friend’ (someone I knew in HS) who posted a photo of him and a nazi flag. It caused a shit storm on the social mediaz. The truth was he was in The Sound of Music and thought it’d be funny. Fortunately that didn’t make it to CNN or Fox.
Sums up my feelings on it.
Not sure if you relayed that story on here before or I’ve heard a similar story … but this just illustrates how people/media/whoever can take a snippet of something out of context and can ruin some innocent person’s life or try like hell to do so…fucked up in my book
So glad I studied engineering. Engineering professors didn’t care about politics. They had important problems to solve.
Absolutely. And if someone called me naive back then, I would have proved them right by being a shit about it.
I don’t have any disapproval for the cheerleaders, and haven’t even hinted at such. Being naive is a part of life.
So you too believe they were being naive? There is no option C Travis. Santa Claus doesn’t give any breaks.
Ignorance.
The mental gymnastics required to create zero overlap between ignorant and naive is impressive. I’ll give you that.
Another point.
These Cheer Teams all have “adult” advisers.
I also agree that it is doubtful that they intentionally disregarded the rules. I also doubt that there were not some adults who knew exactly what they were doing.
I’d bet good money none of them thought Trump would thrust them into the spotlight over this. Probably harmlessly getting an Instagram pic.
I can’t imagine doing something like this if I thought the fuckin POTUS was going to make it newsworthy, but I’d do it for the lawls if I thought I was actually safe
I agree the adults knew a picture was being taken. You make it sound a lot more ominous than I’m used to thinking about pictures.
I also agree that every adult involved with making a mountain out of a molehill was generally aware that it would put a spotlight on smiling kids who did nothing wrong.
Yeah, probably. Or you could leave out the probably and actually seek out facts unless that’s scary.
But is the inverse being preached as reality?
I doubt it. I imagine those kids were ignorant of the rules. That’s a pretty WASPy looking group of girls, so they are likely Trump supporters. That was probably a quickly-taken picture that should have been of no significance. Take notice of their black teammate in the background. I doubt she wasn’t included in the picture because she wasn’t allowed to participate or because she refused to participate due to rules about supporting political candidates.
-That story says the banner was brought into the stadium by a cheerleader.
One out of how many?
I think it bears repeating: the people making a fuss are conservatives.
I’ll let you go undercover to investigate what some old women say during classes, if it interests you.
I don’t know. These kids are so, ya know, like into political stuff and every thing like ya know. Just becuz there like girls ya know doesint mean they cant be smart.
Yeah, that sounds like what you’ll tell the cops.
I spent 60% of my college experience in Oregon. Nearly everyone threw jabs at Bush.
I can count 4 classes that specifically didn’t have any political agendas from the professor: accounting, statistics, college algebra and political studies.
