I think that law was abolished a few years ago. It gave the city of Kennesaw, GA a lot of press, some good and some bad. While the law was in effect, the crime rate in Kennesaw dropped 86% overall.
Coffee’s Gym is out there. Mainly a Oly gym but Strongmen and powerlifters are welcome. Dont know what you train for but some of the best strongmen in the country are all with in about 30-40 mins of gwinnet.
I live in the first suburb outside ATL near Emory. That are is really nice, traffic up and down 400 and in the alpharetta area blows moose cock. it’s a congested area w/ the population boom.
ATL is challenging, you can live either in or out of the perimeter, the navigation in and out is tough. inside and prices are HIGH real estate wise, smaller plots if any at higher prices. high prices in the areas you mentioned too but if you can get in Cherokee county and others you can get a lot for you money…but commuting in sucks.
north druid hills, where i live, i work near my abode, wifey is @ Emory, Grady, Midtown, VA hospital. living inside it all, you can take back roads, i can get to downtown ATL in 10-15min. i work corporately for Kroger so i do travel all over GA at times.
i love GA but hate the traffic, i avoid the highways, learn back roads.
Dunwoody is a nice area, but it is also pricey. I think homes are around 500k and up. The one thing I like about it vs other subdivisions is it has a forest canopy. Which is crucial in the summer.
Nearby recreation.
Cashiers/highlands, NC Nice mountains and cooler temps
Talulah gorge. Deliverance was filmed there. Good white water and rock climbing
Richard B Russell Parkway and Brasstown bald are nice.
Fishing on the Georgia and Florida coast is great!
Personally, I hate Atlanta, I hope you’re making a pile of money!
