North Korea

Lengthy but informative look at pro and con. Written before @Chushin wife said SK asking for nuke to be stationed in country. Perhaps due to continued NK testing of nuke and missiles

…I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that Fukushima left a real psychic scar.

As a side note; the heroic story of those plant workers involved in the initial containment left an indelible impression on me.

Bump.

It’s starting to feel personal. Kim Jong-un seems to be aiming for my house.

First, are any of you familiar with War On The Rocks? See link below. I just found them this afternoon. Do any of you follow them? Listen to their Podcasts?

Ok. Then these are just more on all the recent missile tests and on missile defense.

NPR transcript about China’s policy on Missile Defense.
China Forcefully Opposes U.S. Missile Defense System In South Korea

EDIT: I found this about War on the Rocks. I was trying to figure out if they have a political slant, just general credibility info about who writes and produces their content.

I had read somewhere that a N. Korean missile could possibly reach the state of Washington and maybe even California. That does give us all pause to think doesn’t it? Now if they hit California and just wiped out Hollywood…um no that would be awful…it would.

All kidding aside I don’t think any of us have to worry about such a thing happening. Kim Jong-un is not quite as crazy as he pretends to be. He wants us to think that he might strike us so that he has some sort of leverage. But, in reality he knows that should such a thing take place N. Korea would be reduced to cinders in short order.

Sleep well…

America has more nuclear missiles than North Korea has square miles.

They know their place.

We have 46,000+ nukes?

You’ve made 70,000 altogether. Not all are ready to fire obviously.

We’ve got like 5,000…

From Wikipedia

since 1945, the United States produced more than 70,000 nuclear warheads, which is more than all other nuclear weapon states combined.

70,000 > 46,000

Not all are prepared to fire and now only 4,500 are maintained.

Dude, no.

This place never changes. Isn’t the point the same? 4000, 50,000…the point is we can wipe them off the face of the globe so they wouldn’t dare attack our coastal line.

We could wipe ISIS off the face of the globe yet they still attack all the time… Kim Jong-un is a nut job.

Fair enough then didn’t account for disarmament derp.

We could wipe both off within a few hours but civilian capabilities would be astronomical.

Exactly, which is why even if Kim Jong-un fired a nuke at us I would be surprised if we fired one back at them.

Russia or China are different stories of course. We would probably just “liberate” North Korea.

Isis is not a country as you know. They are spread out in various places, hiding in caves for example. When Trump hit one of their caves and took out 16 of their leaders with a MOAB I loved it. But that’s another conversation. Also, Kim Jong-un is NOT a nut job. He wants you to think he’s a nut job because people fear nut jobs. He knows full well that any sort of attack on the US would bring ultimate destruction upon N. Korea.

Kim as it very nice in N. Korea, he lives like a king. And he wants that to keep happening.

The MOAB explosion was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. Shame there isn’t enough intelligence on where ISIS is hanging out to drop one every week or so.

I agree hugh. But at least Trump got an incredible amount of credit for doing so from the mainstream press.

Oh wait…

My point was simply that nut jobs do irrational things. We’ll just have to agree to disagree on Kim’s nuttiness.

Yep. It takes a very, very smart man to hold 25 million people hostage. His family has had unmatched success in totalitarianism and personal enrichment.
