Nikki Haley...for President?

Honestly, the smartest thing that any politician can do is to imagine that he/she is speaking to a class of 5th graders when in campaign mode. The fact that Trump tweets one word sentences, or 140 characters is actually smart. The problem is the content.

It’s pretty hard to effectively translate a message of any level of significance into 140 characters. Especially when you’re dealing with matters important enough to involve the most powerful man on the planet.

Nothing about Trump tweeting is smart. Character limits don’t matter when you hold the highest office in the land and you use it to bash journalists, muse about plastic surgery, talk reality tv ratings.

Twitter lets Trump speak directly to the morons who elected him though I agree. And I’m sure from the trailer park they are all sorts of laughing about how right he is that Celebrity Apprentice sucks with Arnold

Not really. We do it every single day when we post. And I’d like to think that all of us who come here regularly are much, much brighter than the average voter. I know that you don’t want to hear this because when we dislike someone we are pretty sure that there is nothing at all positive to say about them. But Trump has some pretty good instincts when it comes to using Twitter… All he needs is to get some good advice on what exactly the message for the day should be.

Trust me on this one.

I am hoping that the head of the DNC and other leading democrats are thinking exactly the same thing.

And I am hoping that the GOP thinks that and avoids electing anyone with such an embarrassing disposition again.

Plenty of solid options for them and we get the guy who gets his news from cable and is someone you wouldn’t want your children to watch speak or emulate

“An Uzi in every house, and 10 magazines in every nightstand to boot…”

H, would you want your children to emulate JFK, Bill Clinton, Richard Nixon or LBJ? For that matter there is a very long list of past Presidents from long ago that I would not want my children to emulate.

Behind closed doors behavior probably not. Trump is the first President of the modern era that I wouldn’t let my kids watch or read his tweets. He isn’t vile and a jackass behind closed doors he is one in front of everyone in the country and we said we want this guy who behaves like this to lead us.

I wish it was just one incident or two but the vast majority of the time he is diminishing the office. Has nothing to do with proposed policies. Hell GWB garbled the English language and people laughed some but no one would have said holy cow I hope my kid doesn’t turn out to have any of those traits.

Trump is everything I hope my kid doesn’t grow up to be. I truly think he embodies most of what is wrong with our culture. Focused on the wrong things, obsessed with how people view him, horrible on social media, and so many more

Trump’s own tweets were used against him to help delay his Muslim ban. If he had good instincts, he wouldn’t need advice on what the message of the day would be, yes?

If his current messages have been bad, then how, by any metric, can anyone defend his twitter usage thus far?

Great post. Trump is the first president I can point to and say, without hesitation, to my two boys: don’t ever be like that man. If he has a redeeming quality, I haven’t seen it.

As I said using Twitter smart. How he uses it not nearly as smart most of the time.

Sounds like saying someone’s smart to drive a car except they crash the car 80% of the time they get behind the wheel, but to each their own I guess.

He’s a great lesson that money =/= class at the very least. And that having vast amounts of money doesn’t inherently make you better than other people.

Well, I guess we will just have to agree to disagree. I will say this, if he is reelected then we both have to give him credit for doing something right.

Everyone have a great evening I’m out.

If he gets reelected I’ll give him credit for getting reelected right.

Everything else I’ll continue to judge on a case by case basis. God knows he could use a big win or 2.

Have a good weekend.

Yep, I was just about to say that the sunk cost fallacy is rearing it’s ugly head. I agree with your analysis, unfortunately, and its why I consider politics one of the lowest forms of social interaction lol

If Trump gets reelected the American people will have spoken and said “We do not mind being led by someone who talks and acts disgustingly again.” And regardless of policies the office of the Presidency will be worse off for the level of venom coming from our highest elected office.

Which may very well happen with our horrific two party system but who knows. What we do know is the supposed party of morals and families values had a pick from a lot of different people and they went with the one furthest away from morals and family values.

I missed this earlier and it is a great post. I often wonder if anything exists that Trump could tweet that would turn off his die hards? As the support for him diminishes but solidifies with his base what would he have to do to lose them?

If he actually shot someone like he talked about would his supporters say “yeah well that guy was a snowflake liberal.” :grinning:

“I stand 100% behind Hillary Clinton!” would probably do it.
