Indeed.
I`d like to see the Flames make it past the Blackhawks. They have their backs to the wall now trailing 2-3 in the series. Will be watching the decisive Game 6 closely on Monday.
How`s everyone doing in their respective series?
Same with the sharks trailing 2-3. The ducks are man handling them in this series. I thought the ducks were going to eliminate the sharks last night at home. I was happy the sharks won it in OT and live to see another day. I don’t think they can win 2 more though… What an upset it will be if ducks win.[/quote]
Good to hear the Sharks defended their honor last night. Would also like to see em make it past the Ducks but...like you said, its gonna be a tough haul.
5 games for brashear for a hit, plus 1 game for contact before the game started. Don’t know about anyone else, but it doesn’t seem worth five games to me. That shit happened fairly often in my games in junior.
Go Ducks!
Alright Blackhawks… time to put out the Flames

And happens with some regularity in the NHL. I guess this was more, but they bump each other around all the time. Brashear is a tough guy, a brawler and a provocative player, but I don’t see him as intending to injure outside of a fight. It was a late hit yes and high, but Brashear is big and I don’t know. I saw it more as a bit careless and unfortunate than a 5 game suspension. He’s not McSorley or Simon. He doesn’t have that over the line history.

I’m with ya, but they change enforcement policy every time Campbell or Bettman eat too many carbs. I remember that play with Pronger. He is huge and dman near beheaded Holmstrom on the glass.
The have to protect everybody’s noggin, no problem there, I just wish they would be more consistent.
EDIT, speaking of NHL violence Bertuzzi has the only goal for Calgary right now. There’s a guy who I really do think learned his lesson and was truly repentant. If anything he’s softened up his game too much.

only shark fins left from the aftermath
And to think, a bunch of ducks did that…
sigh

The Ducks are lookin awfully formidable. We will soon find out. They will becoming off a huge high of eliminating the top seeded Sharks and we will be coming off the formality of stepping over the Blue Jackets.
San Jose did not look last night like they really wanted to play until June. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen such sloppy offensive zone play in the playoffs. Bad clears, silly turnovers. I don’t know what happened to them.

I hear ya bro, that shit sucks but…happens on a regular basis in the NHL.
Look at it this way; at least this ain`t figure skating or gymnastics, where EVERY aspect of your performance in comparison to your peers depends upon the judgment of a few officials.
And Sergei nets the series closer for Washington. Good for him. I still have a place in my heart for ol Federov. Classic Sergei move too. An exact replay of one of the goals he scored against Colorado in the WCF of 02. I told my daughter, "watch, here’s where he puts on the brakes, uses the D as a partial screen and snaps a quick wrister into the far upper corner. Sure enough. I saw it comin as he was trackin hie way through the neutral zone over the blue line.
How bout that last minute blitzkrieg by Carolina?
Canes look dangerous. I hope Washington absolutely steamrolls pitt.

I have no crystal ball, but I don’t see anybody in the east stopping Boston this year including Carolina. I know they had an easy first round, but they are a well oiled machine.
Pittsburgh irritates me. I don’t really hate their team or even Crosby, but I somehow just find myself quietly pulling for whoever they’re playing. This started before last years finals so that isn’t it though that sure didn’t help. They whine too much, but MT, the whiner in chief is gone so it shouldn’t be as bad. Pittsburgh has limited resilience in the face of pressure despite that big comeback against Philly. I think they would’ve lost a game 7 in that series. I’m calling the Caps in that one.
We haven’t been tested yet so I don’t know. I do know Anaheim will be war. Lotsa bad blood there and they are no Columbus. Good D, a hot young goaltender, physical and plenty of offensive punch. IF we are on our game we can beat anybody in a 7 game series, but that’s a big if. Could go either way as much I’d like to able to say it’s ours.
Simply put, I think the Blackhawks have met their match in Vancouver, especially if Luongo is dialed in. Chicago’s good and Habibulin’s been aroud, but their very talented offensive core is young and I don’t think it’s their time yet.
Of course like anybody else I could wind up being totally wrong about every one these predictions. Hockey is, in my opinion, the most mental of all the major sports. A “lesser” team can flat out WILL itself past a decorated favorite in hockey like no other sport.

I don’t think he got much of a screen on that. The biggest was that he shot high knowing Lundquist was going to drop, and Lundquist had Ovechkin in the corner of his eye and in the back of his mind. Beautiful shot. That’s not a goal unless Ovie is driving hard to the net like he did. Feds is the man. It’s unfortunate he’s never played for anyone else the way he did for Bowman. He’s showing something now, and it’s great to watch.
So glad San Jose lost. I hate you Claude Lemieux. I don’t think Carolina is up to task in facing Boston. Bruins are rested and ready to go. As long as Thomas doesn’t fall out of step we’ll be fine. Biggest problem with Thomas doing badly is I don’t think Julien will have the balls to put in Fernandez. Last game Manny played he got pulled after 2 periods (not to mention blew the Presidents trophy! lol)
I am INCREDIBLY pissed at Versus for not being able to show that game (Car - NJ). Those endings are why I watch hockey on TV! They should go eat dicks!

There’s no doubt about that and they butted heads too. Sergei was no personal friend of Scotty, but like Scotty did with so many guys he got the best out of Federov. Even when he played him on defense Federov was better than good. I think he lost a chunk of his competitive drive when he left us. Unlike many Wings fans I’ve always wished him well. He did help us to 3 championships after all. He doesn’t have much time left and It’s good to see him recapture a bit of that old glory. I have no doubt that if he really turned it on he could still be plenty productive. Especially in the playoffs.
Chicago should make the box their bench in this game
Bump on the absolutely ridiculous call late in the game going against the Wings. The puck:
- Was clearly loose
- Was certainly IN THE NET before the whistle blew
Why it doesn’t count is totally ass backwards. If a referee calls a goal during a game and it is reviewed, then it is revealed that the puck does not pass the line before the referee blows the whistle is disallowed. Are you kidding me that the reverse isn’t applicable or reviewable? My feelings go either way on this. Even if it was against the ducks, I would still feel it was bullshit, even though I’d appreciate the rule in order to get the win. Bullshit, and cheated fans out of a great overtime.
Why was he so quick on the whistle all of a sudden anyways? It isn’t like Hiller’s puck retention is anything out of the ordinary for a starting goalie.
yeah, detroit got pretty much screwed over on that. pretty much feel the same way on the issue. Let’s face it though, this is detroit. They are most likely going to roll the ducks the next 3 games to take the series.

Lol, good point. I think it will likely take them seven if they’re going to win though. Look at how Hiller is playing. The wings are having trouble getting lanes, getting rebounds, and making the plays they normally do against teams that aren’t as dirty and aren’t as physical.
I just hope they play pissed off next game. When I say pissed off, I mean pissed off and determined. Not trying to get the ducks back. Of course I know the wings know how to play with emotion, so I hope it shows tomorrow.
In the meantime, bruins have 3 straight games to go beat the hurricanes. If they play sixty minutes, I don’t care where they’re playing, the bruins match up with anybody.
Detroit seemed to have the momentum last night from what I saw, they just couldn’t score. Hiller is a very good goalie. You can’t say detroit hasn’t gotten enough shots on him. I think maybe they need to create their chances instead of just shooting the puck on net. Datsyuk looked pissed last night. He is due for one of those games he has where he just controls everything.
I am kind of surprised boston lost AND got shutout last game. I see them coming out and getting on top of carolina quick. Boston is a very dangerous team and has several underrated players.
I hope washington sweeps pitt. I’m still disappointed the flyers lost (choked) in the first round.
