NH_Watts' TRT Log

Hey before trt I noticed that I’d be sore as hell after my chest workout. Then I noticed the next Monday 7 days later my chest was still sore from the week before. I knew something wasnt right. I had been beating myself up like that with no progress for years and years. I dont know how I did it to be honest. How I stayed so dedicated when nothing seemed to work. @NH_Watts is so right on every time and always leaves me shaking my head in agreement. “Some things need to be revisited now that I’m whole”. So perfect in context. For me it makes me think of all the powerful books that I’ve read that moved me but I was unable to act on or execute my desires at that time. Not to mention training programs I wrote off as trash because I saw no results but in retrospect nothing would have worked. I got bored so I would constantly do “bulking” phases and get fat then switch to “cutting” phases to get skinny again. Never getting stronger. Never accomplishing anything but going from fat to skinny. Anyways thank you @NH_Watts

That was my story but in a different sport. I was having a coach for my bike racing. I would do intervals and different training plans. For years. I only got better at endurance but my power rarely increased. So yeah I’m with you.

Can’t wait to train properly again and reap the rewards.

Stan effertine / Ive been listening to his rants and he’s a legit guy with tons of great guidance. He stated in one of his videos “I have every one of my clients do this before they start training”.

BLOOD TEST.

MAn that would of saved us allot of pain

Amen.

Hey brother, do you genuinely not get sore anymore? Serious question.

I did a workout with a buddy the other day, total carnage. I was VERY sore the next day. My friend could barely keep up, in fact , he quit way before I did. Yet he stated he was not sore at all. I couldn’t believe it. He has been consistently working out for years.

Does being sore mean I still have plenty of growth to go? confusing.

Its not debilitating, but I feel it for sure. Now MY LEGS are still getting SORE like a MF because they were neglected so long. I actually Love the feeling though.

ok so unless its HEAVY AND something new I dont really get sore. Like if tomorrow I went and did heavy sumo I would feel it in the muscles I dont normally use. BUT if I were to bench heavy I would not be sore. Same with squat etc. The last 3 weeks I have ditched all that and been concentrating on making sure glutes are firing and everything is moving right so a lot of cook hip lifting shit, palloff pressing, pullups, single leg deads, single leg squatting, etc.and I havent gotten sore once. Even with all the new movements.

SO…next week I start a new program that has a ton of volume (think Meadows) and I am assuming I will be sore for a few weeks.

Just for reference… I’m a big fan of John Meadows. What an incredible guy. He says you cannot use soreness as a measuring stick to gauge your training. He is an advocate of carb loading pre workout and intra workout carbs. He swears that if you do this correctly then you will never get sore. I’m experimenting with it now. Historically… I goes balls out when I train. Eye popping “dont touch that weight unless I tell you to touch that weight I ain’t racking it until I get the last rep” kinda shit. After these training sessions I am sore. Not for long now but I am sore. The jury is still out as I’ve only done the intra carbs twice now but I can say I burp alot while taking intra carbs and they taste like strawberry kiwi burps

I can attest to the burping. But mine taste like jelly donut jelly (Granite Blue Raz). I have been doing pre and peri carbs for at least a month so maybe that is the key.

Haha and I thought I was working hard… aren’t you in Houston? If you ever want some
Company let me Know I would love to come hit the gym with you one day and learn something new.

I do incorporate a lot of “pump” stuff towards the end of my routine because I want that hypertrophy.

Not sure what this technique is called, but basically like if I am doing bench, I wont fully drop the bar to my chest and I wont fully extend. Its to get more blood into the muscles and cause more “tearing” by keeping the blood trapped in the veins.

Anyway, maybe im still encountering decent soreness because I am still making good gains on weight.

Hell yeah brother I’m in the Houston area. I live south side. Office in Pasadena.

Nice I’m in Katy about 40 mins from Pasadena. What gym do you go to? I’m at life time.

LA Fitness is my little second home from 5am to 630am. I’ve been to Lifetime gyms in the past and they are awesome.

Ya they are. Clean as well. The nice one by memorial malls even nicer but 150$ a month. Ya f that…

Email me if you want to hit the gym over the weekend someday and I’ll send you my cell. I’m a midday or afternoon guy. I still haven’t turned my life around to where I can wake up early and operate  . Vampire

How did the trip to the gym with your son go?

2015 & 2016 “Looks good”

Not as planned. They wouldnt let him in with me. They said he had to be 13 years old

They let him sit at the front and watch me train and he was excited about that.

Well thats kind of cool but would have been nice if they let him in.

Amen. He is 9 so it wont be to long. In the mean time I think I’m gonna start doing some boxing stuff with him. Teach him how to throw a proper punch
