â??First, I want people to understand that I am not in support of bin Laden, or against the USA,â?? Mendenhall wrote in an open letter at r34Mendenhall.blogspot.com.

After offering his support for the devastated families of 9/11 and the troops fighting overseas, and noting that he participated in a football camp in Germany for the children of servicemen, he addressed his controversial tweet directly.

â??This … was something I said in response to the amount of joy I saw in the event of a murder,â?? the 23-year-old Mendenhall wrote. â??I wasnâ??t questioning Bin Ladenâ??s evil acts. I believe he will have to face God for what he has done. I was reflecting on our own hypocrisy. During 9/11 we watched in horror as parts of the world celebrated death on our soil. Earlier this week, parts of the world watched us in horror celebrating a manâ??s death.â??
Mendenhall finished with an apology for the timing of his tweet and wrote he meant only to â??encourage anyone reading it to think.â??

We both do, and I did post it here, because his first response to the Osama thing was posted here, and I knew it wouldnt go much further, but it would be noticed, unfortunately when you have entertainers (i.e. athletes actors etc) voicing misguided opinions in public forums the line between athletes being athletes becomes blurred and must be talked about, But I wont go on about it, but since it may very well effect a super bowl contending team it should at least be mentioned, I believe the regulars here are mature enough not to let it take away from the real topic, football (which is again why I posted it here)

Last year was my first swim in the FF pool and I loved it. Great bunch of guys here, dude from Ireland played as well, I imagine he’s following the round football right now.

Draft day was fucking hilarious, the comments were worth the price alone.

Gore killed me last year, WC, if he’s there this year when I pick I’ll pass this time, you can have em’ lol.

DJ was true to his word and passed on guys who he despised or were in the Boy’s division, crazy stratagy but he still did well. Me, I’ll never ever pick the Ravens D.

Trophy, hmmmm, have to give it some thought.

I do have an idea for a rule WC, contestants are not allowed to win two years in a row lol.

^ WC are we doing a keeper league? I guess if we take in new guys would be kind of hard. I also agree about payment up front, I felt bad for Matty having to be a Repo guy with people.

Just keeping my name in the hat for FF this year. BJB ya I’m following three round balls at the moment (that sounds weird). Soccer, hurling and Gaelic Football. Still following the draft though quite pleased with KC’s picks though there is some boom/bust potential. Still in Pioli we trust.

On a side note I’m spending the Summer in Boston, if there is an offseason does anyone know if its possible to watch any of the Patriots training sessions? I know it would be a bit of a journey but I’d still love to if possible. DJ I could get you a signed Brady photo for your next avi.

Would you guys be willing to up the fee to 40-50 bucks this year? No more than that but this way we could spread the money out a little bit and the winner could get more.

For sure. Everyone whose active and pays BEFORE the draf is mroe than welcome. Once we fill the league and everyone is paid up, we can decide if want it to be a keeper or not. I don’t think everyone will be back from last years, so doing keepers from there might be unwise.

I think we’ll have more than enough dedicated managers this year though, so moving forward keepers could be great. I was also thinking about adding 1-3 IDP (individual defensive player) slots.

I can’t wait to get it rolling again though. It has seriously been one of my favorite non-lifting related things from T-Nation.
