NFL 2013

No matter what pre cautions you take in contact sports there will always be freak injuries. The only option is to remove all contact but even then there would be accidental collisions that would produce injuries. I think that people should only play contact sports when they can comprehend the risk they are taking. Like 16 or 17 would be an age to allow kids to pick if they want to play contact or touch leagues.

I rather watch contact sports, the league should make players sign agreements knowing the risk they are putting themselves in. I feel for Keller he was very talented and has been unlucky for the past couple years in regards to injuries. I guess they could have called it a chop block or something like that.I’m liking the receivers on the jets more this year then last years catastrophe.[/quote]

Bull. Keller’s injury shouldnt have happened and the DB’s explination and excuse are utter bullshit. First of all he says that “in this league, because of the rules, you have to go low”. Seriously? He is a fucking rookie. He has NEVER played a down in a real NFL game so he isnt allowed to criticize the rules or blame them. Hit the reciver in the body, not the helmet, problem solved.

Bottom line, in a meaningless preseason game, he purposely went low on a starting player and just took away that mans ability to generate a living for a year, maybe more. Tore his MCL, ACL, PCL and a dislocation, there is a good chance Dustin(Yes it is spelled with a D, so dont tell Justin you are sorry on twitter, call Dustin in person like a man) will never be the same.

So bummed… fucking Egnew just made the team from this…garrhghghghrghorghrwghwrgrwngw

Another note, so wild how many big name players are out for the season with injury and we still have 2 weeks of preseason left.

Indeed. I feel like its worse than it has been in recent years but that’s most likely short term memory

I don’t think it’s worse. I swear I hear this every year.

I went back a page to look for a post from our DB(Cooper) thinking it was typically inflammatory but now I realize you meant the DB on the field.

haha. awesome.

So Eagles named Vick the starter for the season. Anyone think he saves his career?

No

I can safely say that he will miss at least 6 games this season.

Listening to this discussion on Sirius NFL yesterday.

Dude has reinvented his career and personal life, makes a good couple million and cant figure out how to fucking slide.

He will be another retire due to concussions

The question for me is what if he get’s pulled because he’s ineffective? Chip Kelly say’s the right things like he’s the guy and that’s it but two minutes before he say’s “actually we have three QB’s that can do the job”. Sounds sketchy to me.

X2 on turning his life around.

Re: Vick - I’ll argue the other way.

HC-Kelly and staff aren’t idiots and realize that Vick has limitations re: reading NFL defenses. To that end, they’re constantly adjusting formations (and tempo of course) to help make Vick’s pre-snap reads as easy as possible. Also plenty of dink-and-dunk stuff to keep his confidence level high. And they maybe even design slides at the end of his own running plays, cause that is necessary as mentioned above.

But mostly, having him turn and hand/toss it to McCoy and Brown as often as possible seems both obvious and correct.

I doubt Andy Reid did not think of the same things. I dont remember Andy actually calling a lot of bootlegs, and his WC offence is mostly dink and dunk with occasional long ball.

Vick likes to break if he sees a whole, problem is he doesnt know how to slide.

Yeah Vick has a few more decent games in him but he’s one good hit away from never playing again

Justin Smith is a fucking man amongst boys out there against Minnesota right now. Looks like that torn triceps healed up nicely.

The 49ers are going to have a big-time pass rush this year. The Smith boys, Ahmad Brooks, Parys Haralson and one of their rookies out of Auburn, Corey Lemonier, all are going to get after the passer on a regular basis. In fact, Lemonier looks like he’s going to be almost as good on third downs as Aldon Smith was his rookie year when he got about 14 sacks playing only in obvious passing situations. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if he and Smith both get 15 sacks this year.

And they’re always going to be great against the run with Willis and Bowman lurking out there. Fuck, the way their front seven looks right now they could stick anyone they want in the secondary and it won’t matter because the QB is going to be on his back all day. But just in case, Eric Reid has looked like he’s going to be a much better, more sound player than Goldson was at FS, and he can hit just as hard.

I gotta say I’m disspointed how basically any hard hit is now illegal or you are going to get fined. It’s gonna be touch or flag football soon.

You accept the risk when you play the sport. What sane person would think there is no risk for serious injury when they play a contact sport, or hell a non contact sport.

Absolutely agree. And thats why I think the NFLPA sueing the NFL is ridiculous.
