Who is his replacement?
There is no replacing Chuck, but…
Burnett has been “getting it” at safety, and our two young safeties (Jennings, McMillian) will both have to learn on the fly. As for his hybrid-nickel position, once Shields gets healthy again we’ll have a nice little combination of Tramon Williams, Heyward (going to be a stud,) Shield and Jarrett Bush if need be.
Jennings is technically his backup but with the transitions Capers put in, he may not fill that role. Williams and Heyward are more than dependable. Bush will quickly be jumped by Davon House. Bush just needs to do.
I think you meant “go,” not “do,” and I agree. For some reason I thought House was still banged up some. Yeah, he’s definitely coming into his own really well also!

Alright you two WTF is wrong with their D? D line? What?
Well, Raji is still banged up and has injury issues. Even then, I really can’t see him being the quintessential 3-4 nose tackle that we need to anchor the line. He’s hot and cold, a lot. Ryan Pickett, who is usually a very serviceable DE has had to fill in the role at nose tackle, which isn’t a natural fit for him. Other than that, young players - Jerel Worthy WILL be a good player, I think, in a few years, I got to watch a lot of him when he played at Michigan State, although I don’t really believe he’s a good fit in the 3-4. There’s some other “rotationals” who are, in all likelihood, average at best. But then again, we need someone besides Clay to help out with the pass rush.
All in all, I think our big focus next draft needs to be O/D line, kind of like how our whole focus this last year was essentially “back seven” players of defense. We’ll see!
