I could probably go into all of those places now (The Banshee, LaSalle’s, Reilly’s, Duffy’s) but I have no reason to go there anymore so I wouldn’t know.

My last semester in college was at Chico State. I went to Pepperdine until I blew out my shoulder and lost my scholarship. But I’ve been living here for awhile now. What a great fucking town!
So you must have been here back when they still had Pioneer Week and the school was the #1 party school in the country. Nowadays it’s a lot different. The mortality rate of the students is a little alarming. Shit still goes down every weekend for the most part, but I’m way too old to participate in any of that shit. I like floating down the Sac, but not on Labor Day anymore. I prefer going up to Bidwell Park on Labor Day and spending the day swimming in Bear Hole or Brown’s Hole.
I guess you might have heard about all the students that died here this semester. There were two who died over the summer from alcohol poisoning, then a student from Cal Poly who was here for Labor Day got shitfaced and coked out of his gourd and ended up drowning on the river. They found him several miles downriver from Beer Can Beach a week later. I was part of the search and rescue team for that one. Met his parents, saw them identify the body and everything. Fucking tragic.
Then a student overdosed on morphine of all things about a month after that. And a few weeks ago some kid took 21 shots on his 21st birthday and died a few days later. He was only about 150 lbs so that was REALLY stupid of him to do. They suspended every single fraternity and sorority on campus after that one. And last week a student was hit by another student who was driving drunk in his truck, right on Nord and 2nd street just a few blocks from my house. He’s still alive last I heard, but he’s in critical condition.

Yes, it was really, really, wild when I went there, we had our share of tragedy’s as well, but it sounds like this has been a really bad year. I used to basically live at Scotties (I was an H20 skier on he team and that’s where we practiced back then) and it seamed like someone drown tubing about every year. I majored in Philosophy and Poli Sci.
