This game is horrible.

As a Chargers fan, i’m getting a kick out of watching the Broncos lose. But yeah, this game is terrible. It looks like a pre-season game for the Broncos.

The Simpsons predict the game from 1992

5 Saints turnovers vs. 1 for SF. Amazing how great that D is at taking the ball away.

Vernon Davis is a freak and Alex Smith was a stud for a day. Great game by SF. If they play GB in the NFCCG they’re fucked.

NE did to the Broncos what the Steelers should have done, and that is show them that they didn’t deserve to make the playoffs.

You never know. EVERYONE said my team was fucked before we played N.O. Maybe the 49ers can get lucky again and beat GB or NY. Probably -8 GB if they play SF.

N.E is a bad ass team, but Denver’s D made them look unstoppable. Baltimore will give them more of a fight with T-sizzle and Reed.

I did not say SF was fucked against NO, and turnovers were the reason.

GB is not so generous with the football. Of course they will have a chance because SF is a very good football team. But, on paper, right now, I think they’ll be a long shot. We’ll see.

I should have said everyone but you. haha GB will be tough to beat. Rodgers doesn’t take as much chances like Brees. Also, my team is much better at running which is GB’s strength on D.
Gotta hope!

I don’t think Green Bay is a given to beat the Giants. I wouldn’t mind seeing a Niners vs. Giants NFC championship game.

Im sorry…what? I dont care if you think that the last scoring drive of the Steelers game they played was a fluke or if you think the fact that the Steelers were playing against the Broncos at their home field was a unfair advantage, the Broncos made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs. To say that the Broncos dont deserve to be where they are is unjust at best and stupid at worst.

Pack vs Giants will be a good game I think. I’m guessing the Pack will edge them out, but I don’t think anything should be taken for granted. In 2007, I took that game for granted and was shocked. I think (hope!) it was recent enough that no one in GB will think things are just going to fall into place.

I told you San Fran was gonna win!

Who dat? Who dat? It’s the Niners sucka!![/quote]

E.P.I.C. That game was simply one of the best playoff games ever, period. The fact that the 49ers were in it, and won, I can’t even put it into words. I felt like I’d taken 2 Xanax bars after that win. Pure amazingness.

The craziest part is that Alex Smith, the person that everyone blamed for our terrible performances in years past (including me), is the one who carried us to victory. Our defense got torched, our running game wasn’t grinding, but Smith simply stepped up and took over. Awesome.

Can’t wait to watch both games today, but I’ll be much more interested to see if we play the Pack or the G-Men next. Who do people think would better match up with the 49ers? (I’d lean towards Giants)

Wow. Still riding high from that 49ers win. Just. Wow.

*My apologies for being super MIA lately, work has been insane (which I love) so I haven’t had much time to get on here.

Who’s Next?

Anyone want to bet on the Pack-Giants game? Avatars?

You’re off your rocker if you think the Niners don’t match up well with the Packers. If anything, they’d match up better than against the Saints. The Niners’ game plan was to be aggressive and throw a lot, knowing that they were going to face a lot of single man coverage. Their coaching staff is so fucking good at preparing the players and developing proper game plans that, as limited as they seem to be on offense at times, they can still force the team to play the game on their terms and they have the confidence to go with a game plan that attacks a defense’s weakness.

In Green Bay, the weather will dictate the game plan more than in SF, but in bad weather I like the Niners’ chances just as well. They can still pound away on the ground and they have the patience to commit to it. Their defense just proved it’s by far the most physical team in the NFC. It took a couple of spectacular plays by big-time players for the Saints to get their last two touchdowns and that’s what it’s going to take for the Packers to do the same; they aren’t going to feast on mistakes and blown coverages or egregious mismatches. The funny thing is that people keep saying the Giants have a good shot at the Packers today because their defense is playing well and their QB is playing well. Well, the Niners have a better overall defense and have maybe the two best defensive linemen left in the playoffs in Justin and Aldon Smith, and collectively their front seven is playing WAAAAAAAY better than the Giants’.

And if you doubt any of my evaluations here, maybe you should check a couple of long posts of mine on page 35 of this thread, because I was damn-near clairvoyant when it came to yesterday’s game.

IF Green Bay beats NY, the Niners will go into Green Bay and play physical, fundamentally-sound football, force turnovers, hold onto the ball and beat the Packers in a close game, just like they’ve done about 4 or 5 times on the road in a harsh environment already this year. There’s no team in the NFL that matches up with the Packers the way the Niners do.
