New MAC Ad Features Jelena Abbou

As she is affiliated with T-Nation I will keep my comments respectful, but suffice it to say that I’d like to take her out for a nice seafood dinner AND call her again!

But she has, like, real big arms dude!

Or so I hear…

Good for her, these campaigns pay some serious coin.

looking pretty awesome in the other recent pictures here…

I suppose some of the more absolute category types would call her a fitness/figure model/competitor (INBF, WNBF), but that kind of implies that if you don’t compete on a certain level, then you aren’t a bodybuilder.
Only 100 bucks for her to write you a training or nutrition program, sounds like pretty good value to me.

She looks absolutely Badass. Stunning shot.

Perfect match for MAC Strength. I personally think that a skinny fat, size 0 model would have defeated the purpose of the ad.

Based on opinions of non lifting friends, they’d probably say she’s hot but her arm musculature is a turn off

Also thread title is misleading :p
Perhaps but this is how people are influenced as to what is a turn on. Over time and repetition of course.

Am I the only one who hates pictures like this? Touched up - or even glamour shots?

IMO she looks 1,000 times better in the raw videos without all the doll’ing up.

It’s a cosmetics ad. Of course she is going to be made up.

nicki minaj is a hideous looking freak show, while Jelena is a real beauty.

nothing would make me happier than to see the mainstream model ideal shift towards chicks with muscle.

It’s not a demonstration on how to look with their makeup. Nor is it a glamour shot. It’s not meant to be the best look. They are not trying to get anyone to look like that.

It has the desired effect: it pops out. It’s supposed to be a visually striking picture. It’s meant to get the viewer to remember the image (and the brand). That is it.

Good for her!

She’s a sharp looking woman, made up or not.

True, but then again i have never heard anyone ever say nicki minaj was even hot

Jelena looks great! I think its awesome they are using a female role model for the younger girls that doesn’t have a training schedule of Bulimia and extreme crash diets… She has a really pretty model like face too…

Not sure how the thread title is misleading, Raj. Let me know.

I’m sure you are right. Many people, both men and women, would find the muscularity too much. My 17-year-old son wrinkled his nose in a “yuck” face at her arms. I asked a guy at my gym who lifts what he thought, and he also said he thinks it’s “a bit much” on a woman.

As for the more muscular aesthetic, we all know she doesn’t look like that when she’s not pumped up and posing. People who don’t lift, don’t always realize that. Her relaxed pictures look much more traditionally feminine.

It’s not the conventional beauty ideal, but I’m a bit surprised at all the controversy over something that looks healthier than the heroin-chic waifish look we see so much of.

I thought the same thing when print ads have featured women who aren’t so young anymore. Nice to see the image of what is beautiful broadened a bit.
Most men who don’t have any kind of muscularity showing through their fat (or skin) are quick to point out that women with any kind of muscle are gross or they have gone too far in the gym. Which is ridiculous most of the time. I just write it off as jealousy.

Comparing her in the video to that picture…

WHat the fuck did they do to her in that picture? Oh yeah thats right, buffed it up a bit and made her look like something out of a plastic surgeons booklet.

Rather take the raw look of her than the shiny, fake picture.

She’s in a make up ad…that’s like complaining about there not being fat people in a BB magazine.

Funny also that she is actually lighter then all the “curvy” chicks some guys are into, The only reason she is so muscular is the extreme low body fat combined with the added muscle… In terms of actual size and proportion she is still extremely feminine… I think its just the guys that don’t lift that with a deflated ego because the chick is probably stronger then them that find her repulsive… lol

I think someone said earlier 5’5 @118 pds? Thats like featherwieght light haha
