Companies use this method. Make sure to never ever open the envoloppe unless ordered by the court (if ever it arises such a situation).

You need to write a business plan. There are books and probably internet sites which will guide you through the process.

This will allow you to sell your idea to potential investors and get the money required fo a patent.
