New Coffee Machines

Keurig does the job in a rush but for a real aficionado you need a $5000 espresso machine.

When I went to visit my grandmother in Italy, even the smallest hole-in-the-wall bar had ones of these. I was drinkin’ 6-12 cups a day because it was so awesome.

I was actually kinda happy when my flight was delayed at Fumicino, so I could go and have 2-3 more espressos

we have an expensive one that uses the discs, however, to my knowledge it uses rather processed coffee as well as non-organic.

coffee beans are heavily sprayed, so we went back to the old school style

My brother in law & his wife recently got one & I got to guinea pig it; a Keurig (from Costco, cost about $180)

Makes decent coffee (it’s all about the convenience, right?) BUT in my opinion I just as well make a pot if I have to or go to Tim Horton’s or Starbucks if I’ve got the change.

This would probably be best for singles, busy couples, or a bunch of people at a party that have snobbier varied tastes in coffee

Myself & the wife, we just do up instant coffee in our mugs for the morning, does the same job.

Other downside is apparently those little convenient cup disc things are NOT recyclable (yet, I suppose)

Funny thing about that. The first time I tried a Kurig maker was at a little dinner party thing. One woman there was absolutely irate that the Green Mountain cups weren’t recyclable.

Then I got to the grocery store, and low and behold- Judging by the copious amounts of packaging and ink It looks like I bought into a green consumerism lifestyle device.

Nice thing about the refillable cups- They’re reusable(environmentally friendly).

i have a white woman in my kitchen. it makes really good coffee. i might trade it in for a new one though, after a few years it starts crying alot.

Did you get that one off of Rock? He sells those flimsy ones that break too easily.

I got a heavy industrial/farm use one and she still works great.

I had one of those for awhile. She was great for about 2 months and then crapped out, so I let her go on Kijiji for $50 (OBO). The coffee was great, but after a while it was all “I need nutritional sustenance”-this and “why are you keeping me captive you freak?!”-that. Too much of a hassle.

You gotta get one of them ones that don’t talk.

I’ve noticed that if you do get one of the talking ones with their general low intelligence already they usually just emit long strings of words that they pick up from the television set.

No, do it in front of the coffee snobs. I hate them too.

Ordering some coffee with a long name sounds like some lame joke from a Sandra Bullock or Kate Hudson movie y’know where she goes into a Starbucks and saying “I’ll have a double tall low-fat soy milk decaf latte with low-fat cream” is for some reason supposed to be hilarious.
This reminds me of a time I was in Starbucks and the person in front of me asked for a soy eggnog frappacino and the cashier was like “Eggnog doesn’t come in soy”…

I don’t drink coffee but today I went and got one on the way to work from one of those coffee chain places.

I went in there and they had like a bazillion different types of coffee - I freaked out.

I decided to go with something that sounded simple - a short black - and all I got was a shot-glass sized coffee… I was like ‘uhhh thanks’. It tasted like shit BTW.

Why do you people drink this stuff?

I feel like I’d have to read a couple fo textbooks just to get started on drinking coffee.
HA, Man the people behind the counter don’t care. It’s a job and hell you are asking them to do less work.

You are right every spot has a dif word for “Small, Med, Large” these days. I have that issue from time to time.

Just walk in ask for a regular coffee, they may tell you the 3 or four dif brews they have, just tell them you want the mildest of the group. And point to the size cup you want.

You are now a coffee house pro…

Ive had all 3 of the major ones:

Keurig - nice if you want just a cup of coffee and has lots of varieties, does no special drinks like mochas or lates

Bosch (tassimo) - the best of these if you want hot chocolate, mochas or lattes and does a good cup of coffee, also does expresso (its cheaper then starbucks and just as good but still more expensive then a normal coffee pot if you just want coffee).

The Pods machines - no special coffee, takes 2 pods for a decent coffee = very expensive

I personally like my 2 in one machine that has a side basket that lets you use coffee grounds to make just one cup, it also will boil water for tea and has a larger coffee pot for if you have guests / the wife wants some… it doesnt do the speical drinks, but I have a legit pump driven espresso machine if I want that (Delonghi) ftw…
