Nah, you’re just kidding. I know you don’t mean that. Relax, it’s cool. [/quote]

Oh darn, I mean it. That’s what makes the world go around my friend varied opinions. You like him and I think he’d make a far better mannequin in a store window than an entertainer. If you look at him closely he may actually be a mannequin that has come to life. I would rather watch snow melt than sit through one of his shows.

Watching Snow Melt = Watching The Jay Leno Show :)…and to hell with your round world and varied opinions anyway :D.

All jokes aside, I can understand where you’re coming from. The physical part of Conan’s humor, and to a lesser extent his interviewing style puts a lot of people off [I personally think the stuff’s great], especially the older they are. My dad hates his guts too, thinks he’s just weird and not funny.

Letterman’s a cool guy and he’s pretty sharp and witty, but his politics and his occasional need to put them to the forefront put people off. He’s probably lost a few fans and even more casual viewers doing that.

Leno wins in the end because even if he bores the hell out of some people [I’d be in that group but his monologues are decent, I have to admit], he doesn’t annoy anyone.

Conan on fox has potential. When Conan took over the tonight show his material became more PC, probably at the request of NBC. Fox; on the other hand, has had a lot of success by allowing their shows free reign. [/quote]

All good points. Late Night was better than The Tonight Show for that reason, so hopefully he gets a Fox show.

Note to self: Shit in Zeb’s cereal. That negative bastard.

Okay, so just to clear things up:

-Coco technically isn’t losing/giving up the 11:35pm spot or the Tonight Show. It’s just an extremely embarrassing scenario where everyone knows that NBC has lost all confidence in him and they don’t want him there.

-He is apparently due 60 million dollars [yup] if NBC scraps his contract to host the Tonight Show, and ConeBone69 has flatly REFUSED to delay the show by half an hour [have it start at 12:05AM] so Leno can do a show at 11:35pm. But he hasn’t negotiated his way out, he’s waiting on them to make a move. Essentially, if he’s leaving, he’s decided to make a public, embarrassing fight that will most likely end up with him getting something around that 60 million. His agency has hired a lawyer and shit.

-Letterman and Kimmel are making fun of this on their shows. Letterman’s stuff is pretty harsh on Leno [who got the Tonight Show instead of him way back in the early 90s], but Kimmel’s was sort of directed at Leno, too. Remember, in the months before Jay agreed to the primetime show, people though he was going to go to ABC and that Kimmel would either get fired or pushed down a half hour.

-NBC wants to solve this before the start of the Winter Olympics

I may have mis-read some of it, but this is what I gathered. CocoLoc’s public statement, addressed to the “People of Earth”, is also in that link.

Keep us posted, sir!

Alright, but only 'cause I’m your bitch. Updates:

-NBC head Jeff Zucker is now threatening to keep Conan off the air for 3 1/2 years, which I imagine is the duration of his contract. Conans reps said they’ll go to court before this happens.

-NBC can’t cancel The Jay Leno Show, because where cConan is due $60 million if he’s cancelled, Jay is due $80 million. Hence why NBc just want to “move the shows” and since Jay has already agreed like a little bitch, all they need is to force Conan to take a 12:05 AM slot that is not a good start time ratings-wise [ask Jimmy Kimmel].

-Conan was going at NBC hard [no homo] on yesterday’s show. It was pretty bad. The interview with Ricky Gervais [who’s always funny] was fuckin’ amazing. Go watch it on nbc.com if you missed it.

-Letterman is not only going off on NBC’s executives and Jeff Zucker in particular, he’s also making increasingly obvious jabs at Leno too. He’s been insulting leno lightly, but yesterday he said something along the lines of “I sure miss Johnny [Carson]. When Johnny quit, he quit”. And he also mentioned way back when NBC was deciding whether he or Leno would replace Johnny Carson on the Tonight Show, and Jay Leno hid in the closet to eavesdrop on their meeting. Supposedly this has been rumoured for a long time, but I don’t know if Dave was just kidding or exposing Jay outright.

-Conan want’s to have Howard Stern, who is famous for hating Jay, and has called Jay out for being a snake and a thief of his bits [he says Jay stole Jaywalking from his segment where he asks homeless people trivia questions], on his show. Howard said no, but it’s interesting that Coco wanted him.

-If Coco get’s a show with another network he’s still have to wat about a year before the show was set up.

Jimmy Kimmel tearing Leno to bits. Hilarious

^LOL, what a turd. This is why Letterman’s been raggin’ on Jay [and Jeff Zucker, pictured with Conan] for more than a week now. And here’s Jimmy Kimmel ethering Leno on his own show:

Apparently none of the other late night talk show hosts like Leno. They seem to all think he’s a snake.

Oh, and apparently Conan is out and NBC is giving him $40 million. Although unlike if he just collected his $60 million or just continued to be on contract while his show didn’t air, Coco is free to compete [as in, get a new talk show on another network] immediately. Of course, it takes around a year or so for a show to be set up [like when Letterman left NBC for CBS], so it looks like Coco’s not gonna be on for about a year. Enjoy next week’s shows, they’re the last episodes of The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien. I think the last show is on Tuesday, with Tom Hanks [who is always a good guest].

EDIT: The turd comment was for Jay Leno, not Pimpbot5000.

Another vote for Craig Ferguson! <–love that guy

I know it seems like a minor point, but Leno has done one thing that really turns me off:

He repeatedly, repeatedly, repeatedly has insisted for years on end that he SUPPOSEDLY has never spent a penny of his Tonight Show money.

Supposedly all of his massive collection of cars and other toys, all his employees that take care of them, and his entire lifestyle is paid for entirely by his stand-up comedy gigs done on the side. Yeah, right.

I’m used to various people telling lies to get themselves out of situations and so forth: I don’t think it speaks well for their character but someone doing this doesn’t fit radically outside the commonplace.

But utterly gratuitous lying such as this that furthermore assumes the listener or reader is utterly stupid, turns me off.

Looks like wherever Conan winds up, he won’t be able to bring along Triumph, the Masturbating Bear, et. al…

And all the Conan haters need to drink a big glass of STFU. Conan rules!

Conan is hands down the wittiest and most intelligent talk show host in tv history. The guy graduated magna cum laude from fucking HARVARD, and comes up with incredibly funny shit off the top of his head. If you don’t like Conan O’brien, you’re un-American, and possibly gay.

Not to take anything away from his accomplishment in anyway, but he majored in History and Literature… I think Conan is a great guy but I’ve never found him particularly funny. He’ll do fine at fox, doubt much will change.

The point was he did it at Harvard, one of -if not the - most prestigious institutions in our country. I don’t care if he majored in VCR maintenance and minored in finger painting: a lost artform, he did it at HARVARD. He also [as someone else pointed out] wrote for the Simpsons during its heyday. How you can not find the writer and producer of ‘Marge vs the monorail’ funny is beyond me.

I just never really liked his skits etc… he targets a certain audience like any comedian. Maybe I’ll give him another shot and see what happens
