NBA Lockout

That would be AWESOME!!!

That would only invigorate the already famous Kobe - Kris Humphries feud.

Don’t suppose anyone watched CHI-MIN last night? Turned it off when CHI was up 24 in the 2nd quarter, somehow MIN went into halftime down only 2. Rubio looks like the real deal so far.

This just in…the knicks are actually starting to play defense! I got a bromance going with Iman Shumpert.

Haha Kobe is killing it right now. He scored 48 points yesterday and then at the after game press conference he poked a little fun at ESPN by saying “not bad for the 7th best player in the league.” He’s talking about ESPN’s NBA player rankings. You can clearly see Kobe is out there playing with purpose. Guys like him and Jordan are so competitive I bet he feels disrespected anytime he’s not regarded as the best player in the league. I don’t know if he needs to score 48 points with Pau and Gasol on his team but he is doing it anyway to say 'hey I’m still here, remember me?"

It was a tale of two of the best players in the NBA yesterday. Kobe put up 48 points and scored in the decisive period of time in a close game while conversely, Lebron has just 2 points in the 4th quarter in that overtime loss to the GSW (he also missed the potential game tying 3 with 8 seconds to go).

It’s going to be interesting now to see how long Kobe and LA can sustain this. Most of their games so far have been at home and against mediocre teams. I’m not sure if they can keep up with OKC but that match-up has a lot of fans excited, especially seeing a reinvigorated Kobe against Durant.

Thinking a single 48pt game proves you are the best player in the NBA is the most Kobe Bryant thing ever.

Edit: I’m not saying he’s having a bad year. He’s having an awesome year. I’m just saying if you’re making an MVP case for him, having a 48pt game at home vs. PHX is somewhere between the 15th and 20th thing you would mention.

I just find it remarkable he is playing like this. He looked so slow and worn down last year I didn’t think he could ball like he is now. I think most of it is him having a different mental focus. Not saying he was wasn’t focused in the past but he looks like he has more drive now and you can tell by his aggressive play. He’s got his jumper on-point and that’s scary.

Yeah I know. That “procedure” in Germany looks pretty smart so far. What’s amazing is how well he’s shooting overall given his crappy 3P%. Question is whether he’s been more unlucky on 3s or lucky with 2s… time will tell, but probably some of both. Looks awesome so far, BUT let’s see how he’s handling the season in late February. That was my main question w/ him (and Bynum) this year.

Jesus dude, this has nothing to do with “luck”. You have to keep in mind the guy is playing with torn ligaments in HIS SHOOTING WRIST. He wears a brace on it every hour of the day he’s not playing ball. I imagine that has something to do with his 3% being down. What he’s doing right now is exactly what I said he’d do if he was healthy, and he’s not even healthy. ANY other guy in the league gets these injuries and they’re out. Bryant gets 'em and leads the league in scoring. Also, apparently his knees and ankles were really jacked up the last 2 seasons. He’s moving as well as he has in at least 3 years.

Calm down. All I’m saying is he might not continue to hit a higher percentage of 2pt jumpers than he ever has in his career. I used the term luck but you can replace that with hot streak… either way it will likely come down a bit. But by the same token he’ll probably hit more 3s. I’m not taking away from the season he’s having - so far he’s been incredible.

I never said he wouldn’t be awesome while playing. Just given his recent injury history, and the fact he’s already a pincushion less than 10 games into the season, I think at some point he’ll have too many injuries even for him to overcome.

No one here is saying Bryant is a pussy who can’t play through pain. Calm yourself!!

From the two games I’ve watched this season, he’s taking the same shots he always has, just without as much wasted motion. Like in the past he’d have a guy beat, but would stop and throw 6 pump fakes at him for no apparent reason then take the shot. Now, he just elevates and drills it.
His first step also looks as good as it has in years. Was listening to Derek Fisher talk the other day and he was saying that Bryant’s knees and ankles were a mess, and that he’s much healthier this year. He also said if Bryant hadn’t have torn that ligament it wouldn’t have taken 10 games for him to have the Phoenix game. It’s funny 'cause the dude already had a 39 and a 37.

^^ Yeah he’s healthier now than last year, it’s still early in the season. My question is if he’ll be as healthy in late February as he is now. I think no way in hell. Bryant’s body is ridiculous but Father Time is undefeated. It’s only a question of when.

Haha, father time will stay undefeated, and Bryant started the season banged up, but he’s looked damn good so far. Interested to see of these back-to-backs catch up to him. By the law of averages you have to assume they will, but I’m pullin’ for him.

Also, heard today that Bryant’s 48 is the most in NBA history for some in their 16th season. It is fucking crazy to me that he’s been in the league for 16 years now.

Imagine if MJ had 16 consecutive years…

lol this is amazing:

Well, apparently Bryant’s “controversial” surgery was a bionic knee replacement. He just dropped 40 again on Utah for the W. Currently averaging 30, 6 & 5 on the season with torn ligaments in his shooting hand. Nutso.

^^Yeah he’s playing great. Hopefully Bynum can continue to improve and get back closer to the numbers he was putting up in his first 4 games. If he can average around 20-24 points and 12-14 rebounds that would be amazing.

Shit, if Bynum could average 15-18 and 10-12 with 2 blocks that’d be amazing. Haven’t really noticed, is Gasol’s head still up his own ass?
