NBA 2014-2015 Regular Season Thread

I think that Kobe could still do well with a solid team around him. Although he is definitely getting older + the two major injuries don’t help. With regards to his shooting %, imagine yourself playing recre on the court. You got four bums on your team who can’t score for shit. You’d rather take all the shots yourself man.
I’ve only caught highlights of the Lakers thus far and plan to give them a watch soon. I have to say though, their scoring was pretty balanced in the game against ATL and surprise surprise they won.

Question: does there exist a team in the league that if you were to insert Kobe onto their roster they would instantly transform into a championship contender?

What an incredibly unfair comment. Bryant has missed basically a year and half due to 2 serious injuries, is 36 and playing on a team full of nobodies. His %'s will climb and his numbers will still be great. The Lakers suck though.

Oh, he put up 44 in 31 minutes and didn’t play at all in the 4th. Coulda got 60, easy.
That’s all true, but every season is a restart. I’m judging him up to this point in this season. If we look at him with respect to his advanced age, previous accolades and injury history well then… I can’t say anything.
Fair enough. My point is that with all those setbacks, defenses are solely focusing on stopping him because no one else has played worth a shit and he’s still trying to keep 'em afloat.

They looked decent last night. They’re obviously not a 500% team, but they’re better than their record.

A team without a scoring threat and is pretty good defensively (since Kobe doesn’t really have the legs to defend anymore)?

Memphis? Marc Gasol, Z-bo, Tony Allen, Conely and Kobe (over vince carter) sounds pretty legit. As of now, i don’t think Memphis has a chance at the title at all. They don’t seem to have that “go-to” elite superstar player (aka a durant, lebron, kobe, dirk)

I was going to say Chicago largely for the same reasons you outlined for Memphis.

Great defensive team with no go to elite scorer. Peaking at Derrick Rose’s numbers they don’t look bad but when I saw him play against the Raptors, he looked pretty underwhelming. None of that explosiveness preinjury, lots of jumpers and not really getting to the foul line.

Also it was weird to see Pau Gasol in a Bulls jersey heh

“It’s just like the swagger factor,” Young quipped. “It just rubs off on everybody.”

Two games since N Young’s return = two wins

He said he was a better 3 point shooter than ray allen, reggie miller, curry, thompson and larry bird apparenty. Oh man, this dude is a joke.

Hmm, i would think that Derrick Rose is considered one of those elite superstars if he manages to get his mojo back PLUS not getting injured again. He might be just hesitant to go full out due to psychological reasons (aka lack of self-confidence, fear or reinjury etc.).

He’s getting alot of hate for saying something along the lines of “not playing because he was concerned for his future after basketball”. Well I do think that personal life is important, but for the amount he’s paid (plus not playing for the last two years), he better be playing his heart out every damn night man. I think he owes Chicago man and i’m not even from the US.

OH MAN, did you see that game-costing turnover by Lebron James + the missed layup by Brandon Knight. hahahahaha Shaqtin a Fool

“It’s all rigged” anyways bros, shut it down nothing to discuss here.

Jeez, this is the first time in the 25 years of seriously watching the Knicks have they become so unwatchable this early. Even through the Layden and Isaiah years I felt most of the players played hard, fucking Howard Eisley shows more hustle than 75% of this team. Derek Fisher looks lost, and his substituions are mind boggling

I feel the exact opposite about the Raptors. Minus a couple of years where they were decent, last year and this year (thus far) has been wonderful to watch.

Watching a team that was the WORST defensive team in the league for years on end as a result of the atrocious combo of Bosh and Bargnani down low and Calderon at the point, it’s been a blessing watching good defense.

So it looks like Chris Bosh has come down to Earth

LOL guess whose coming back to the knicks this weekend

What’s your dream team right now? From this season, injured players are out.

PG: Curry
SG: Thompson
SF: Leonard
PF: Davis
C: Cousins

^enough defense and offense right there.

Enjoy watching your PG get consistently blown by and a 7 footer who miraculously can’t rebound…

Haven’t watched him since he left but Calderon isn’t bad offensively. He doesn’t turn the ball over, he makes good passes and hits all his open shots and free throws.

He just needs a good front court to compensate for his shitty D.

Not a Cousin’s fan. That guy looks like he’s going to eventually snap and have a Ron Artest moment at some point lol

He looks to be better (mentally and emotionally) now though. And at least he’s performing at a really really high level. I hope he becomes as dominant as at least barkley was.

I haven’t had the chance to watch any Raptors/Memphis highlights…CAUSE THERE AINT NO HIGHLIGHTS. The basketball channels i’m subscribed too hasn’t posted any raptors or memphis games.

You do realize that Barkley is no less than a top 3 power forward of all time, right?

I enjoyed this cross over of Lebron

I’m really liking Lou Williams. For what the Raptors gave up (John Salmond + 2nd round pick) this guy was an absolute steal.
