NBA 2012 - 2013

Looks the Lakers a having a little trouble tonight vs. the Suns but it makes for a more interesting game to watch.

I think they’ll make the playoffs but they’re going to still have to find some equilibrium between Kobe’s scoring and passing. He’s not going to sustain averaging more assists than FG attempts. What’d they get Nash for then? He’s got 0 assists at half time tonight. It’s a real weird mix at this point. Gasol coming off the bench seems like a big waste of talent too. Why not trade him for a better fit? It should be interesting to see what kind of moves (if any) they make before the trade deadline.

I agree that they need to find a balance and that Nash’s role needs to be defined BUT I actually like Gasol coming off the bench. Clark is much more athletic and fits better with the starting unit. Having a player like Pau coming off the bench instantly gives them offense.

Another thing, it seems like the rest of the Lakers players have much more confidence playing with Kobe now. His willingness to pass the ball and trust in them seems to have given them more confidence and guys are hitting their shots.

I like it.

Kobe thinks he could’ve been the best pg ever

I believe it. Look at how much he’s tearing it up now in a point guard type of role.

He would have been like Magic. His size would have been a matchup nightmare for other pg’s plus he could score at will.
Kobe’s cocky with his shit but it doesn’t mean you should be. Look, I was on your side during this tough period but now y’all win 3 games in a row and you’re eyeing a championship?

It is funny to see Laker Nation talking about team basketball though, good for them.
awwww come on man. If you couldn’t tell that my posts on that last page were in jest/semi trolling then that’s your fault lol.

I’m pretty sure everyone else could tell, that’s why no one really responded hahah

Even the playoff making odds? How confident are you?

Oh I am 100% confident that they’ll make the playoffs (that might depend on this Howard re injury status)

Most just joking about the “monsterous 2 game win streak”, “elite status” and all the Laker Nation talk.

I don’t agree with much you post but I agree with pretty much all that. And Greg, I like you but I guarantee the Lakers won’t make the playoffs, there’s a better chance of Randman posting here again haha I had to…

Apparently the “new” lakers arent that new, struggled mightily with phoenix last night.

IF they make the playoffs, they are going to be eighth seed. That means they are not making it past round 1. OKC vs Lakers is a 4-1 series. I know people like to say “oh, Kobe simply wont ALLOW any team to sweep the Lakers” but it may very well happen if this is the matchup.

Well, in 2011 Kobe couldn’t stop Dallas from sweeping them.

You must be pumped for this. Great pick up for the Raptors but I agree … Prince? Not sure how that will play out for them.

If this years poor fg% is an aberration then definitely pumped. We finally have a finisher. As I mentioned earlier, the Raps constantly lose games at the buzzer.

From what I can tell the new Grizz owner just wants to shed payroll. They got rid of speights last week and now Gay (I will say I don’t think Gay is a max deal type player). Now that they picked up a promising PF who needs minutes to develop so maybe Z-Bo is next?

I am however not sure how defense will be. Gay-Derozan-Lowry basically play one side of the ball. There’s also a lot of duplication of talent between Derozan and Gay. I worry about spacing and a plummeting overall fg% between all the shots DeRozan and Gay will take.

There might be another deal on the way though who knows. It will be fun to watch though. Hopefully they still badly enough to stay in the lottery lol

1 - raj, which jersey did u end up going with on gameday?

2 - Yep, that Gay deal sure looks like a straight salary dump.

3 - I don’t see how LAL makes the playoffs. (plus, they’d realistically need the #6 seed at worst to avoid both OKC and LAC in the 1st round)

4 - “Here’s a good rule of thumb: If you’re a professional basketball coach and your system is telling you, ‘I should play Earl Clark more than Pau Gasol,’ you need a new system… I went to the 2012 Summer Olympics and watched three of Spain’s games in person, when they revolved everything around a high-low game with the Gasol Hermanos (Marc up top, Pau down low). Nobody could stop them. In the gold-medal game, he was ripping up Team USA’s double-teams and doing whatever he wanted. So you can’t say his skills atrophied, or that he’s washed-up, because there’s absolutely no evidence that he’s not still a franchise low-post center if you use him like a franchise low-post center.” [source: » Simmons vs. Lowe: The Lakers]

Kobe jersey - you should’ve see the (disappointed) sea of yellow and purple. Big laker following here, tons of their games broadcasted.

Kinda sad that a 4th seed team is dismantling themselves into mediocrity (assuming they’re getting rid of more than just Gay and Speights).

Cavs got a nice win against OKC last night. Kyrie outplayed everyone on the court (durant hurt a rib mid-way through the 3rd). The Speights deal from Memphis is really working out well for us. Gave up jon luer (exactly who the fuck is that) for 2 quality rotation players.

Yeah, was pretty surprised when i checked the tv companion and say OKC didnt pull that one out. Kyrie had a crazy good game. The really crazy thing is that Durant and Westbook both had an excellent game and still lost. Thats the way it goes when your bench fuckin sucks though and your starting center is damn near useless at times.

Was disappointed to see the Bulls lose to Nets the other night, but realistically they only lost cause they were completely crippled. Up until the 4th they were winning most of the time, it was a close game, and they didnt have Noah, Boozer, Hinrich, and obviously Rose. With any one of those guys in they would have won. At full strength that would have been a blowout. Deng, Taj and Robinson had no relief though, played from start to finish. Butler had like 36 minutes too or something like that. Fatigue caught up to them in the 4th.

On the brighter side, the same crippled bulls beat Atlanta handily last night. They are getting better as the season goes on. Once they are healthy again, and especially after rose comes back, they are going to make the eastern conference dread playing them in the playoffs.

At the rate they are moving, ill be surprised if they dont come in at 3rd or 4th seed. Definitely starting to make things interesting. Earlier in the season i was praying for 7th seed lol.

Turning out to be a good season to be a bulls fan, now lets just hope Rose makes a crazy comeback like Jordan did after sitting out 60 straight games with a broken foot.

I dont really know what Kendrick perkins does other than getting paid alot of money to walk around with a dirty look on his face all the time.

LOL. That, and use up his allotted fouls as roughly as possible. (not to imply its a bad thing, LAL sure could use that)

And yeah, K Irving is easily in my top-5 favorite guys to watch already. Right up there with the usual superstars and also guys like Crawford, Rubio, P George and J McGee (serious)

Between the new, escalating luxury tax hits (immediately post-lockout, Cuban had some very interesting things to say about GM/team-building strategy going fwd) and being stuck in that “no man’s land” of 1st-round playoff exits and no lottery balls, it’s hard to blame em.

LAKERRRRRRRRRRRRRRS!!!

Putting the league on notice.

I dont either. A lot of people think Thunder needs more depth in order to win a ring, i honestly think theyd be better served by getting a real quality center.

Its baffling to me that more people arent looking to Perkins as a huge chink in OKC’s armor.
