My Strength Training Log

i thought it’d be interesting to post my workouts that are in preparation for training camp. I play d. 3 college football. i’m a 5’10, 186 db. i’ve previously deadlifted 425, pin pressed 305, cleaned 235. i have good room for improvement by the fact that my training has been interuppted by two torn acls the past two years. any comments or questions are welcome.

I’ll be training at a commercial gym this summer. No power racks, gay music, gay people, gay rules, the weights don’t really fit the barbells so the weights move around on ya and other stupd shit to deal with. Though, i still plan to make progress.

Workout 1, Sat. May 21st:
i’m coming off a 12 day layoff. I took time after we strength tested to recover and focus on finals. i don’t plan on really pushing it in the gym the first week.

  1. Elevated Deadlift (standing on top of 25lb. plates for a little extra range of motion.) worked up to 2755, 3156 easy.
  2. bb power shrugs warmed up to 2758, 2958. it seems like grip could be a problem in the future because the bars are slippery in commercial gyms. I’ll bring chalk next time.
  3. one legged db squats 55’s10, 65’s12, 75’s*10

Workout 2, Mon. May 23rd:

  1. bb close grip(2 fingers on smooth) worked up to 225*7 easy
  2. db flat press 65’s12, 75’s10, 85’s*7. my right shoulder doesn’t feel up to it when i do flat db’s.it doesn’t have much stability and it causes me pain for a couple days after i do these. i’m an idiot. the last set was also too much for the first day back.
  3. underhand machine row warmed up to 2 sets of 10
  4. bb curls 5. hanging leg raises 6.russian twists

Workout 3, Thurs. May, 26:

  1. underhand wide grip pull ups bw*12, 8, 4. My gym doesn’t have an actual bar. it has like 4 stupidly placed handles that are angled. underhand is the only way i can grip the ones that are the width of the grip i want to have.
  2. bb close grip speed 6 sets of 155*3
  3. close grip incline 15510, 16510, 165*6

Workout 4, Sat. May 28;

  1. Elevated Deadlifts(standing on 25’s)
    worked up to 345*6
  2. bb power shrugs warmed up to 305*9. no one was there to stop me from using chalk.
  3. one legged db squats 65’s10, 75’s8 85’s*10 (left leg).
    I start work on Monday which consists of 9-12 hour days of manual labor. i will probably have to alter volume to make progress. feedback welcome.
