My Anabolic Diet Journal

I started the anabolic diet yesterday and it is really delicious. So I am going to keep a journal on here (we’ll see how long me actually remembering to write on here lasts) so I can monitor my progress.

Monday 1-28-08

Breakfast -
4 Eggs with parmesan, oregano, and 1 tbsp olive oil
1 cup of coffee

Lunch -
2 tilapia filets cooked in 1 tbsp olive oil with garlic
1 cup spinach with olive oil

Snack -
5 saltines
2 tbsp peanut butter

Snack -
1 Tilapia filet cooked in 1 tbsp olive oil with garlic
1 cup of broccoli, boiled, then cooked in the over with parmesan

Dinner -
8 oz ground beef, two slices american cheese
1 cup of spinach with 1 tbsp olive oil

Snack -
1 ounce cashews

Note:

I will not be calorie counting.
Aside from my one cup of black coffee in the morning, the only other liquids I will be drinking will be at least one gallon of water, unless on the weekend, then I will drink milk, and maybe some beer.

Ideas or suggestions let me know.

2 ounces cashews

saltines? really?

I’d skip the saltines, summer sausage, and PB for the first couple weeks to help you get fat adapted.

why?

i’ve seen the saltines and peanut butter as a snack in a couple of AD blogs and online books. I am barely taking in 30 carbs/days as is.

I’m no expert, but I would listen to ovalpline, he definitely knows what he’s talking about.

By the way, just looking for a few moments at your diet I can tell there’s no way you’re barely eating 30g CHO, and at the VERY VERY LEAST, there’s 50g carbs there, and probably more like 55-60g. In the snack alone, between the PB and saltines, you’ve got 27g carbs, plus a couple grams from the preservatives in the summer sausage - you’re eating a days worth of carbs in your snack!

Do what ovalpine said and your diet will fall within the guidelines of the AD, then after you’ve adapted you can be a bit more lenient. I would suggest being more exact with everything too. I know you said you won’t be calorie counting, but maybe you should rethink that, you may be surprised at what you’re actually eating.

It’s a pain in the ass at first, but you get used to it, and after you do it for a while and get used to the quantities and such, you can relax and stop counting. Personally, I’ve been counting for a while now, and I’m a hundred times faster than when I started, and I will continue to count until I reach my goals, then maybe I’ll ease up a bit.

By the way, I think 2 ounces of cashews have something like 15 - 20 grams of carbs, be careful, I eat almonds and walnuts, and only about an ounce at a time, check out my journal here: http://www.T-Nation.com/tmagnum/readTopic.do?id=1861366

Dude, I’d REALLY suggest keeping a food log. Like others mentioned, you’re already underestimating how many carbs you’re eating, and that’s a very typical mistake for an AD dieter to make.

Is there a particular reason you’re not counting anything? If you’re serious about this, counting is truly the way to go. Leave the non counting for the general population who just merely want to “lose a few pounds and tighten up a bit”.

If nothing else, I’d advise you AT LEAST count carbs.

all good points.

to be honest, I needed to get rid of the saltines, there were only about 10 left in the box

the main reason I have eaten the summer sausage is because in the ebook i got which is written by dr. DiPasquale, he has summer sausage in a lot of the meals he has put together. I’m not sitting on the couch eating a whole sausage at a time, just 2 slices a day between class when i can’t get back to my place to eat.

you’re right about the cashews, i will go down to 1 ounce until i go back to the store to get different nuts, probably pistachio.

thanks for the ideas and suggestions

the main reason I am not counting is because in the ebook, it outlines pretty much everything I am eating and have eaten. I have a calorie range obviously that fluctuates maybe slightly, but I am not going to stress about it. I am taking in between 16-18 times my body weight in calories per day.

Um no fucking way you lost 7 pounds on that pussy ass diet. You are only fooling yourself bro…

That is the most jackass fucking thing i’ve heard all week. I weigh myself before and after every single workout, and have done so for 7 years. I started the week out at 206, and ended it at 199. I give two shits what you have to say about that you dumb mother fucker.

And no, I’m not PMing some dumb sack of shit that I know I lift more than and look better than. This is a journal for me to keep track of shit, and I will take advice from others that are OBVIOUSLY experienced in an area such as nutrition, like those that have given real advice about the AD diet on this thread, you can suck a dick.

Whatever man I’m a second year PT student here at UMaryland, so I think I know a little more than some meatheads who post on a message board after getting home from the gym and before wacking off.

The obvious factor that shows your denial is that there is no way you could be benching 2x your body weight with 2 herniated discs. Do you even know what a herniated disk is? The guys at the gym I work out in here would call you a “wannabe,” basically you head to the gym and do a million upper body exercises cause you want to look like the guys on this home page without putting in the real work on the lifts that truly matter (hang clean, power clean, squat).

Anyway, I was just trying to help out but since you and your jackoff buddies know better than someone trained in medicine then have fun eating you penis sandwiches everyday and pretending like you lose a lb per day. At that rate you will be down to 120 in just 2 months!!

Peace dude.

Steelpounder: you’re the student, so I’ll teach you something.

You can see above a graph showing my daily bodyweight from December 7th until December 29th, 2007. I, like the OP, am following the Anabolic Diet.

You can see that in a period of only 72 hours from Dec. 11-14 I lost 3.1kg (6.8lb),

and

72 hours, Dec. 17-20 - lost 4.7kg (10.3lb)

and

48 hours, Dec. 26-28 - lost 4.8kg (10.5lb).

Maybe you should study a bit more about glycogen and it’s relation to water storage in the body before talking shit to somebody in THEIR thread, while only making yourself look like another jackass personal trainer that doesn’t know shit.

Why don’t you just read everything here, at T-Nation, and I guarantee you you’ll learn 100 times more than you’ll ever learn in your PT shit course in Uidon’tcare.

To the OP:
Be sure to weigh yourself the day before your recharge when you’re glyco depleted to track your progress accurately. You will find that the longer you’re on the diet, the faster you will lose the water weight throughout the week. Personally, monday and tuesday after training, I start to pee like I just drank a 6-pack.

Im going to vouche for JD for a second here. Hes a big guy and no amount of supposed coursework that you have done is going make your opinion outweigh that. Do you really think he would be posting fake lifts on a board where there were at least 4 people who knew him personally and were more than willing to call bullshit on it?

By the way, I doubt very many of the bodybuilders on the main page spent much time doing hang cleans and power cleans and the fact that they were 2/3 of the “lifts that really matter” that you listed points out exactly how much you dont know.

Ill be keeping up with this JD, are you lifting downstairs yet?
