My American Life Checklist

  1. Fitter
  2. Happier, more productive
  3. Not drinking too much
  4. regular exercise at the gym(3 days a week)
  5. getting on better with your associate employee contemporaries
  6. eating well,no more microwave dinners and saturated fats
  7. a patient better driver
  8. a safer car, baby smiling in back seat
  9. sleeping well,no bad dreams
  10. no paranoia
  11. careful to all animals,never washing spiders down the plughole
  12. keep in contact with old friends
  13. enjoy a drink now and then
  14. will frequently check credit at bank
  15. favors for favors
  16. fond but not in love
  17. charity standing orders
  18. on Sundays ring road supermarket
  19. no killing moths or putting boiling water on the ants
  20. car wash also on Sundays
  21. no longer afraid of the dark or midday shadows
  22. nothing so ridiculously teenage and desperate
  23. nothing so childish - at a better pace
  24. slower and more calculated
    no chance of escape
  25. now self-employed
  26. concerned,but powerless
  27. an empowered and informed member of society pragmatism not idealism
  28. will not cry in public less chance of illness
  29. tires that grip in the wet
  30. shot of baby strapped in back seat
  31. a good memory
  32. still cries at a good film
  33. still kisses with saliva
  34. no longer empty and frantic like a cat tied to a stick, that’s driven into frozen winter shit

I don’t get this. Does this mean what you think the American dream-life would be for you?

Or does this mean what you’d want to see the american life look like?

Maybe it’s a tv show where they make goals?

I believe this is a reference to the Radiohead song, or the song refers to some prior work I don’t know about.

These are the lyrics to a Radiohead song, “Fitter Happier” from their 1997 album Ok Computer. Don’t know what compelled him to post it but it’s good to see another Radiohead fan here at T-Nation.
