This is 100% the truth. Pat’s often linked articles that said the opposite of what he was arguing.
But I chuckle at a guy who is a huge Trump fan (by far the most frequent liar President in history) complaining about lies and being on Twitter too much.
Then again I often just chuckle at Pat period. He’s old and gets a bit crazier each year.
You can’t seriously compare them to the “socialism is good, wealth redistribution, defund police Antifa” crowd? Also the left has their own conspiracy theories about some secret cabal running the world’s governments.
The right has some fringe crazies but the lefties take the cake
I would encourage more people to move away from mainstream media and look at some of the independent journalism out there. Whether you choose to remain in your bubble, or get diverse sources you will be better off this way.
MSM is just advocacy driven through outrage these days - best to discourage their behaviour by getting your news elsewhere.
The proof is the study and all the call outs by journalists who formally worked for these places and the exposes.
My claim was we have proof. A lack of diversity of thought and running in small circles with people who only agree with you, then reporting that shit as news is unhinged and dishonest.
From the examples of the major stories the media royally fucked up, that I gave, show me an example of them being honest, where they got the story right. I’ll wait…
So basically according to you there is only two possibilities. These MSM journalists are either incredibly stupid and incompetent, or they deliberately misrepresent the news.
What we do seem to agree on is that the MSM media outlets frequently report the news inaccurately. You did not dispute this fact.
Either way, we both know you cannot trust the mainstream outlets for accurate, factual news.
I see the opposite. Ironically, local news who is on the ground at news events tend to get the facts right, but MSM spins these stories to drive a narrative and I didn’t excuse Fox from the equation. They do it too, perhaps not as much, but still too much.
Look at the Russian collusion story, for instance. They could not have possibly fucked that narrative up any more than they did and they did it in-spite of the facts not because of them. Look at the Covington kids coverage, all they had to do was watch the video, which they had. It took someone leaking the video to get the true story out. They got sued and they lost, a.k.a. conceded that they lied.
What right-wing conspiracies are being reported right now?
I can tell you the left-wing conspiracy that is being spouted right now, that these BLM protests are “peaceful” and the federal government sent in “secret police” to stomp them out. There is nothing true about that narrative, but it’s being spouted all over the place as if true. So much so that Rep. Jerry Nadler said the antifa violence is a myth, in the face of overwhelming evidence.
If you want to get some semblance of facts, you have to have a diversity of sources. Sadly, you cannot know what’s going on by using a single news source and the MSM is the worst of all.
For instance, the Flynn case which is being retried by the media, again in the face of contrary facts. Glenn Greenwald is the only one doing a deep-dive into the case and reporting the facts as they are, not how one wants them to appear.
I disagree with Glenn politically, but at least he’s trying to do real reporting.
Go look at CNN, NY Times, MSNBC, or other left-wing rags and compare their narrative to Glenn’s. All of these people lean left, only one is even trying to report the truth.
Some have, sure. Especially early on there were legitimate peaceful protests.
But one of the major narratives was that Trump sent “secret police” to Portland to harass ‘peaceful’ protests and secretly arrest peaceful protesters and detain them indefinitely.
The protests in Portland have not been peaceful for 71 days. But it was a talking point even Bill Maher repeated long after it was obvious that there is nothing peaceful going on in Portland.
Wait, you can’t seriously think that worship at the altar of capitalism is indefinitely sustainable?
Or that Gordon Gecko’s ‘greed is good’ mantra provides sound justification for it?
Have you even considered what advanced-stage capitalism looks like? (hint: it’s a concentration of wealth, resources that looks increasingly nonsensical as a population continues to grow in number)
But go ahead, stick with your overly-simplified/false dichotomous ‘analysis’ that ends with “sOciALiSm bAd!” and straight up strawmen like “aBoLiSh pOLiCe!” as is your right.
Who worships capitalism? The only people I have seen on their knees begging for forgiveness are woke identitarians, chanting and washing people’s feet. The capitalists are on the side, selling water and BLM t-shirts to the mob.
Capitlosim, the terrible system that has lifted more people out of poverty and generated more wealth for more people than any other terrible system in the history of the world. But it’s not perfect so, burn it down!
Socialism, a failed system that has resulted in the death’s of hundreds of million people and impoverished hundreds of million more just in the 20th and 21st century. Socialism has no equal when it comes to death and destruction, but I am sure you’ll do it right. So let’s do that here so we can be equally broke and oppressed.
I got an idea, go live in a socialist country for a year and come back and report to us how wonderful it is.
You clearly did not read her resignation letter. I will take her word over her resignation rather than your interpretation about what you thought she meant by resigning.
I have read it. But she is (or was) the Op-Ed editor, not a journalist or someone overseeing journalists. She was not dealing with reporting news, but rather is an opinion writer.
This seems to be the case here. How does this support what you are arguing?
And, you used her as an example of problem with journalists. Are you being intentionally dense here?
A person who works outside journalism resigned from her position. And you linked to her resignation as ‘part of the problem’ with msm journalism. You really don’t see the issue here?
She worked for the New York Times and she is a journalist as you would have a hard time categorizing her as something else.
As a matter of fact, she ranks higher than the majority of staff journalists in her position of editor for the opinion section making her statement about the state of the paper much more poignant than it would be if it were just an average staff writer.
Nothing about her resume discredits her or what she said, hell if anything it makes it all more…
Well, yeah they’re biased. So is the entertainment industry and the hallowed halls of higher education. And, yes, in the corporate world/market place. Cancel culture, communities full of broken homes, and the black-clad rioters are the hounds now biting the hands that fed them.
