Tuesday: No Country For Old Men
I liked it, but I’m not sure why. The shotgun with silencer was awesome as well as the ‘cow killer’ he drug around with him.
Is there some great hidden meaning behind the flick?

Finally got around to seeing Bigger, Faster, Stronger. As a documentary I thought it did an excellent job and really left the viewer open to form their own opinion, even though I would say it was pro-steroid. Great arguments, and just really well put together.
Valentiono seems like he means well, but is nucking futs.
The guy at Gold’s saying he “Used to be” a fan of Arnold’s hit the nail on the head for me. Arnold seems to be doing everything in his power to distance himself from weightlifting in general. That’s kind of depressing to me.
arnold is a politician. hes playing politics. you cant go from being the poster boy of bodybuilding to dispising it. im sure the man greatly cares about everything related but his pictures getting took down was stupid.
i need to see No Country again because when i watched it my cable was fucking up and kept skipping.
i still think The Happening was a good film, solely because of its commentary on actual events.

Really…can you fill me in on this? This is news to me.
What about the Arnold events? He did set up that organisation didn’t he?

I don’t know. Why the hell did he have all his posters torn down at Gold’s? That was lame.

Yea i just watched Bigger, faster, stronger. That was way more than lame, he basically discarded the thing that made him…its v.likely political if you take into account the comments he made about his own steroid use and the coming election of the time the film was made.
BUT he continues to support and present the Arnold…things aren’t as black and white as they appear.
I liked how the father of the three brothers talks about how man is fallible and everyone does stupid shit. Pretty cool guy.
I’d like to see Professor X comment on those pilots and there use of go go pills.

While the Arnold is what it is, I wonder how much he actually has to do with it? Granted it’s his name and everything but, I don’t know. I wish he didn’t have to hide his past(steroids and all)in the closet just because he is a politician.
You are right about the dad. He seems like a pretty cool and insightful guy.
The thing about the pilots was crazy. Did I understand correctly when they said they are REQUIRED to take amphetamines on long missions? TP should get a government contract for Spike.
Biden’s testimony at the baseball hearings was about the most over exaggerated, phony thing I have ever seen in my life. He makes it sound like steroids killed his children, raped his wife, and killed the dinosaurs. Really guy? You got that angry because Bonds was on gear? You need to get a fucking life pal.
the father of the baseball player obviously has grievance issues. he doesnt know why his son killed himself but he wants an answer for it, and having a believe in anything is more assuring than a believe in nothing.
so what he did is just take steroids because really, who knows anything about steroids? well, what we do know is they kill people, shrink your balls, give you cancer, give you tits, am i missing anything? so he scapgoated steroids instead of really investigating what it could be, maybe investigating too far could be bad.
maybe his father pressured him, maybe he didnt spend time with him, maybe the kid didnt get to the school he wanted, maybe he got dumped. its hard to say, because i wasnt there and dont have the facts but its clear that steroids dont make you kill yourself and they were just the scapegoat to vent all the emotion at. its a coping mechanism, thats all.

Real Sports did a piece on that kid and interviewed his parents, teachers, coaches, and friends. From what I remember he was the star baseball player in town and already had scouts looking into him.
He was struggle with depression as was mentioned in the movie, but the extent of it wasn’t really discussed. Was it enough to kill himself? We will probably never know.
I do agree with you though. Ween parents lose a child I would image the need to place blame somewhere must be overwhelming.

The Strangers. dumb fuckin movie. It had my heart going a few times which was good, but WTF?
I saw it last night.
The first 30-minutes was tooooooo slow, the middle to last part was never wracking, and then the end was a bit of a let down.
But the tense scenes were good
I don’t know…considering most of the crap that gets made today, if a movie can effectively make me say, “oh shit” once or twice (like when you initially see one of the intruders in the house behind Liv Tyler…or when he predictably takes out his best friend), I’ll pretty much let some things slide.
My honest opinion is that most people would be unprepared if they faced home invasion like that. While some people do keep guns in the house, most seem to also greatly overestimate their skill in using that firearm in a real situation. The average person is not a soldier. Hell, the average person grunts and strains just to get out of bed in the morning.
They seemed to make an attempt at being a “70’s slasher movie” even though they had cell phones and they pulled it off for the most part.
The movie Them was worse than this and nowhere near as effective with the tense scenes.
The ending was weak though. They were pushing for a sequel.[/quote]
I would have run screaming out of the house and down the street. I have guns in my house, but I know… I KNOW I would try to get my run on
When you see that guy with the mask first appear in the house, that was a good scene
Well i have read that Arnie basically set up the organisation, as well as promoting it a hell of a lot at its inception. After while i guess the guy has other things to do and delegates it to a team or something.
Still…
And i forgot to mention the elder brother “mad dog”(MD) if i remember correctly was an idiot. He had a hot wife, a decent job and he’s so delusional that he still believes he will be famous just like that.
I admit i do appreciate watching people like that, it reminds me to stay grounded.
I also thought it was fucking hilarious when the dumbass middle brother tells his mum about his steroid use, his little brother has a look on his face that is just priceless!
To add the cherry on the cake he tells her that her own brother gave MD the shit in the first place. (oh and that bit where the dad remembers when MD asked him for money to get the shit…classic stuff).
What did he think was going to be beneficial from telling his mum, what a clown.
Yea I lost respect for Biden with his idiotic and venomous comments. Wouldn’t have steroids been fucking legal back then? If i was on a high level college football/hockey team I would have probably used it.
I would only use steroids if i feel needed them, had my training/nutrition/recovery down to a fine art, they were legal, affordable and LONG term studies had been performed by various medical schools with very favourable results.
But to be honest i don’t like being dependant on drugs as i know a few addictive personalities that are always on the shit. I don’t want to risk it.
The father of the kid who died though has my sympathy, God only knows how much he lost when his son died. You can’t really hate the guy.

It’s accepted in the Air Force. No one even questions it. In fact, I have seen pilots joke openly about it while giving seminars.
We live in a country that contradicts itself daily. We want soldiers to do all of the fighting for us, but then we hinder the advancement of science that could lead to the actual enhancement of ability…and then we turn right around and enhance soldiers…but then we call it something else.
Alcohol is rampant, but the same people who get flat out drunk on the weekends are the same ones who claim marijuana should not be legalized.
I am convinced most people are so clueless they don’t know what they want.
Thank you and good answer.
And Cannabis should be legalized, although its unlikely with the powerful Alcohol and Tobacco companies always lobbying against it.

i would agree but i would change “clueless” with political bullshit. so and so owns this company so we promote it because we need funding. we cant make money of this so we legalize it. we need support from group A so we support this. its all bullshit politics. and arent politics in general really all bullshit? how does someone have the arrogance to think they are so perfect they can not only run their own lives, and take care of their families but also my life. and know exactly whats best for me without ever meeting me, and my neighbors, and my city, and my state, and my country.
i think politics are bullshit and i think rules in general are bullshit.
i dont remember who said it, Socrates or Plato, but it was something along the lines of law is pointless because people are going to do whatever they feel is “right”. so basically if a person believes stealing is wrong they wont. if a person doesnt have a problem with killing he will kill.

There’s still a big poster of Arnie in his prime hanging on the wall at my Gold’s.
I am Legend- possibly the most intense movie scene ever (when he goes into the dark building to look for his dog)
possibly saddest scene ever- having to kill your one and only companion
possibly worst ending ever- however I give the nod to the Strangers on that one.
Watched The Incredible Hulk right after I got back from the gym, wanted to go right back, dude is jacked, reminds me of a green Prof X. Other movies watched recently: Chronicles of Riddick, Sunshine, The Matrix, Dark City, Iron Man, Wall-E.

do you think wall-e was a good movie because of its commentary? It was the one thing that irritated me about that movie was how obvious a point they were trying too make.
Bigger Stronger Faster - was great, saw it awhile ago. I felt bad for mad dogs wife, pretty much everything else has been discussed…nothing else I could add really
