With Highlander…“There should have been only one!”
The sequels were a test of endurance. That’s what happens when you make a movie with such a definitive end. Macleod won. They never went anywhere with that.

The only thing that would’ve made Highlander better for me would be that the prize was mortality. Kurgan fighting for his own death and Macleod being reunited with Heather to live out their lives together would’ve been a perfect ending.
I figured that was one of the aspects of the prize, along with gaining all that knowledge.

I got the idea that the victor absorbed the life force/experience of all the fallen immortals but retained their immortality, effectively becoming a god.

IIRC there’s a reference to what would happen if the Kurgan became ‘the one’. I can’t recall the exact words, but it’s along the lines of an eternal reign of darkness.

Kurgan revelled in his immortality. He wouldn’t have fought if he knew the prize was mortality - Macleod would have seen mortality as something to fight for, but not Kurgan. Unless the exact nature of the prize only became known at the end.

I guess so.

Fucked if I’m seeing the remake though.

Goddamned Ryan Reynolds.

Depends if they hire wiseass Ryan Reynolds or serious Ryan Reynolds. That usually indicates how solid the script is.

No the real question is are they going to make it into a Trilogy?

That would also depend on which acting mode RR is set to…if it’s a serious effort, then they’ll pitch it as a trilogy because of the belief in Hollywood that a trilogy elevates even the most crass idea and evokes a sense of sophistication and class.

If Reynolds is playing for laughs, then we’ll get a bawdy stoner comedy about an immortal clansman who stumbles through the ages in a haze of smoke battling the munchies until the first 7-Eleven is created. The High Lander will hit your screen whenever they can be bothered to switch on the cameras.

aw fuck “High Lander” lol

I loved John Carter. I was alone in the theater when I saw it.

james

I also really liked John Carter. Fyi I am a fan of the Edgar Rice Burroughs series, so may have been biased. Currently on a quest to find all of the Frazetta illustrated hardcovers, they’re awesome.

I’m pretty sure I know the ones you’re talking about. I used to see lots of them in my favorite used bookstores but never bought any because I wanted to find number 1.

#1 is the only one I’ve found so far, no hurry, just a casual quest.

George Lucas “borrowed” so many ideas from the John Carter stories that by the time they made the movie, it appeared to be the imitator and the interest just wasn’t there.

Anyone here think Mila Kunis is hot? A buddy and I were debating who we’d rather bang, Mila Kunis or Natalie Portman. We ultimately decided on Justin Timberlake…those eyes got to me. he’s perfect for sex.
Fixed.

You and your “buddy” are gayer than a dick sandwich washed down with a tall glass of AIDS.

I read Gettinitdone’s post again and you know what…I know what he means.

Natalie Portman is of course beautiful, but she doesn’t scream out “Fuck me!”…she’s very pretty and all that but I need about 15 seconds (an eternity) to think about having sex with her. I just think about high-school level stuff with her, like kissing and impressing my friends with having her hanging on my arm.

I get it too, just busting balls. Natalie Portman is beautiful and innocent-looking, not really a sexpot. That said, I’d need precisely 0 seconds to consider touching her naughty bits.

I think Mila Kunis is sexy as hell though. She has a mischievousness in her eyes. Again, 0 seconds.
