Movies That Shouldn't Be Remade

Basically any movie that not only stands the test of time, but defines the time it was made. A movie I would like to see remade however is DUNE. Saw that they’re working on it, and that has the potential to be epic.
Wait a minute, have you seen the SciFi channel Dune remake miniseries? I’ve got the directors cut and that sucker is 4 hours long. It’s also makes a lot of sense, unlike the original Dune movie (unless you’ve read the book of course) The miniseries isn’t completely faithful, it strays in a couple of spots, but is a great watch.

edit: Oh yeah, Highlander. Anyone else wonder why the actual Scottish actor in that movie (Sean Connery) played a Spaniard (with a Scottish accent no less), and the person playing the Scot didn’t even come close to sounding like one?

To make things even more odd Connery’s character was originally Egyptian.

Odd that I should forget that there’s apparently a They Live remake planned.

And I’d love if George Lucas let someone else remake the prequel movies but with a slightly different story and fewer special effects, or at least let someone write three prequel novels with a different story.

As long as they don’t touch The Princess Bride.

Highlander should be remade. That movie was way too slow and boring, and the swordsmanship absolutely sucked. Aragorn would be perfect to play the lead.
I will fucking murder you.
He’s not even kidding.

Yeah

They should remake Pet Sematary! That would be awesome now.

Was reading in MuscleMag the other day Commando and Total Recall are being remade. The guy who stared in Avatar and Terminator Salvation will be the lead.

Anyone else think that only Arnold could pull those movies off?

What other movies? The latest Karate Kid was a travesty IMO, never did nor will I watch it.
Actually Karate Kid was pretty good, but I’m a big Jackie Chan fan, so I’m a little biased.

The guy that starred in Avatar and Terminator must have friends in high places or sold his soul, because he looks like he’s in a few big budget movies without being a good actor or having the physique to pull off the action roll part.
Totally agree on Sam Worthington. As far as I know other than Avatar every movie he’s been in has bombed. Don’t know how he keeps getting major roles.
It was thanks to a low-budget Australian movie called ‘Somersault’. Personally haven’t seen it, but apparently he is excellent. That gained Hollywood’s attention and accounts for his sudden appearance: basically the right people saw him and liked what they saw.

He’s not the most versatile actor in the world by any stretch, but I’m willing to cut him a little slack because he’s still a cut above Channing Tatum. That said, I agree that Worthington lacks range and presence.

Oh yeah, now I’ve gotten myself terribly confused.

Too true, remaking that would be fucking stupid, the original did it perfectly.
