Is this the sequel? I really liked the first one.

I have to give a vote to Jeeper’s Creepers also. It did go mainstream though. I was expecting a crappy teen horror flick, but I still think about the creeper everytime I’m walking in the dark (I live in the country). It seemed to start like a slasher flick but the plot twisted when you found out he can sense, and is attracted to fear. Thought it was a great concept.

I liked it when I saw it in the theater, but when watching it later it dawned on me how silly it was. Nothing about the monster is explained. Where’d he come from? Why every 23 years for 23 days? Why does he drive a big ass truck if he can fly, or have all kinds of knives and torture equipment if he can just rip an arm off with his bare hands? Also, the director did pen time for raping an underage boy. That last one doesn’t/wouldn’t take away from a movie in any way, just tossin’ it out there.

Two robbers (guy and girl) hijack a couple and their van trying to get away. They stop for gas and get attacked by “a creature” whose biology involves growing splinters that when injected into someone, turn them into part of it whether they are attached directly to it or not.
That means any body parts that become infected grow a mind of their own and try to attack the owner.

on the face of it, this movie should’ve stunk.
with all that said, i thought it was awesome.
has anyone seen antichrist? it’s supposed to be brutal…

I feel the same. I think I was 14 when it was in theaters. I was looking at the ground a few times throughout the movie lol.
My take on any horror movie is that if you start to analyze it, you’ll find it becomes less and less scary, and actually funny. I try to watch horror movies with an open mind and let it surprise me. So far that strategy has made many crappy movies enjoyable.

That could work. Gonna check it out this weekend if I have time. Thanks.

I agree. I still like Jeepers Creepers and am fine with the fact that they don’t give a full history of the creature. They implied he is either a demon or some ancient being that had been here for millennia who only wakes up ever 23 years to eat and then goes back to sleep.
The sequel truly sucked, but the first one was decent.

Oh, and one more shout out for The Descent (2005). This movie was way better than expected once they get under ground.
Strange… I think our tastes in horror often times coincide, but I found this to be one of the more disappointing movies I can remember seeing.
I think it had been hyped up too much for me, and I expected a lot. I’m pretty sure there was a point in the movie where I could see where the costumes for the creatures started/stopped.
As for movies… I’ll get more up soon, but Pandorum pops up first of all. I thought it was going to be like The Descent in space, but wow. The story was much more layered and complex than I had originally thought it was going to be, for sure.

My thing is if they would’ve given a little more backstory explaining his evil it could’ve made the monster truely creepy instead of cartoonish creepy. I just like a little believability in my unbelievable monster movies.

Couldn’t agree more. I’m a proud owner of the first movie, and quite enjoy how non in-depth they got with the character.
I feel like the second one should’ve played less in to the hands of the typical B-horror slasher movie, and expounded on the backstory, like you mentioned. That being said, I wouldn’t a full “This creature is so and so from the ‘X’ period of time, yadda yadda,” but I thought it could’ve been deeper.
BTW… If a Jeepers Creepers 3 ever comes, I want to see that thing when it wakes up in the guy’s barn.

Well, when I first saw The Descent, it was BEFORE any other people had started creating hype for it. It was unknown and foreign when I saw it so I had fresh eyes for it. I guess if it had been hyped up as the scariest movie ever, I would say the same.
I do agree about Pandorum. I got it on Blu Ray. Great story and great “sci fi” plot.

I saw the preview for this on the dvd for 300 and couldn’t wait then it never came out. They just released the dvd a few months ago and I went to three Newbury comic’s a movie stop and a best buy before I could find it. I own it the movies cool sucks you right in the first 10 minutes. It’s three interwoven stories Anna Paquin is in it she’s smokng hot in it as well, the fat kid from Bad Santa is in it(he’s still fat). Great horror movie with a twist and the main character is named Sam Hain. Also Tokyo Zombie I enjoyed but for other reason’s it was like a goofy ass 70’s wannabe horror comedy thing from Japan.
To the person asking about Antichrist, I just watched it last night. It was done amazingly well. The cinematography, actor dedication, lighting, environments, etc were mesmerizing.
That being said, after watching the film, I just don’t understand what the point of it was. The scenes of sexual violence were not terribly over the top (if you’ve seen August Underground’s Mordum, Guinea Pig 2, et al.), but I definitely wouldn’t recommend you buy it. It’s available instantly on Netflix, so if you stream movies, check it out.
Back to the topic of the thread, I nominate Blood Car, Masters of Horror: Dario Argento: Pelts, and I’ll second The Descent and throw in Dog Soldiers

I heard about this movie and thought “Wow, what a stupid concept!”
Then I watched it and now it’s one of my favorites and I highly recommend it to everyone, ever.
Once again, low budget but the concept actually works really well.
This one?
I’ll order it today.
Yeah, X, that’s the movie. Just something about it… It’s really good. Let me know if you like it too.

No its the original just the Theater poster pic. I didn’t even know there was a pt 2

I was really confused on that movie to be honest. Was it supposed to be a comedy, similar to Shaun of the Dead?
Edit: Good watch either way.

I watched it too…along with the director’s commentary. They were praising The Evil Dead series and were making that movie in homage to it…which explains where one of the guys instantly got a machine gun when there was none anywhere around to begin with.
It was meant to be “quirky”…much like Sam Raimi’s work. Movies like Drag Me To Hell aren’t so much “scary” as they are “trippy”.
It was a watchable movie though so it should definitely go on the list.
They just wanted to make another “80’s slasher flick”.
