Motor Bikes

Where to start…

Supersport was actually very reliable.
748 - flaking rockers
Multistrada - soft valve guides, fueling issues, various electrical niggles, and finally the nut that holds the flywheel on fell off. Luckily at the track not in the middle of nowhere.
749 - various electronic gremlins

Just everytime I turned around there was something going on. Some of the things were minor and some were catastrophic. My experience is not uncommon either.

The community has also gotten lame over the years. Wow, that sounds catty. There was a time where it was riders buying Ducs and we all accepted their faults. You knew going in that you were going to give up power and reliability but gain a lot in handling. It seems now that Ducati is simply about the lifestyle and less about the bikes. How else can you explain the Diavel?

But I do miss the raw-ness of the SS and 748. They had a 748R for sale locally that I almost picked up. It was a former AMA bike and was track only but I just couldn’t pull the trigger on it.

I still own Italian, just not Ducati.

I would try a bunch of bikes not just cruisers. I personally don’t like the riding position on a cruiser and prefer more of a crouch or more upright. It puts me in a better position to control the bike. I’m not sure if you’re going just on looks or not but it might be worthwhile to take a look around.

Adventure bikes or naked/standard also make great first bikes because they put you into a riding position that forces you to be aware of your surroundings. I understand that not everyone likes them though. I would take a look at a Honda Nighthawk too or something similar.

LOL…

The bike actually looks better in pics than in person. Taken individually the pieces look sexy. They look a bit better in race plastics though.

They didn’t really pull all the lines together. Look at the 916, 1098, Panigale lines and then look at the RR lines. Hell, look at the 2008 Yamaha R1 for an example of what a sportbike could look like.
