As I said, I didn’t see the video, I don’t know the severity of the abuse. But there are plenty of times when mothers just “shake their baby a little” or don’t bond with the baby, things like Casey Anthony happen. Just cuz WE, in our hormonal balance, can’t fathom doing this, doesn’t make it fictional. And correct me if I’m wrong, I don’t think you have had any degree of PPD to speak from experience of. My mom told me how she had to give me to my grandparents because of how she felt. So 8 months after childbirth? Yeah, its definetely a possibility. And considering her environment, it doesn’t look like she can get professional help. Which is why we probably dont hear about this sort of thing all that often.
This may offend some, but if a person is that unbalanced chemically and mentally as to beat up a baby (but still be a great person on the inside), they should be classified as insane.
Shaking your baby a little is also called “abuse”.
Post partum depression does not excuse abuse. Men also suffer from post partum depression to the tune of 1.2-25% of new fathers. I can guarantee no one would excuse one of them “shaking a baby a little”.

I just don’t get this. I’ve helped raised many of my younger siblings, and have a baby on the way, and as pissed off as I’ve gotten at my younger brothers when they just WOULDN’T. STOP. CRYING, I could NEVER imagine doing anything that could damage a child. There’s a world of difference between being frustrated/tired/stressed, and taking all that out on a defenseless baby. If you can’t see that line, you shouldn’t be walking the streets free imo.
First, as I said, I don’t use it as an excuse for the abuse. Or rather, I don’t think that in the case that it is PPD, I will say that it makes it okay. On another note, I don’t believe in men having PPD. PPD is a literal hormonal imbalance, your body trying to adjust to not having another human inside of you that you had for 9 months. I’m sure everyone knows how moody pregnant women can be, so its only right that the body will have to adjust to not having a baby anymore. If a man thinks he’s had it, its called stress, him trying to adjust to having a crying baby in the house.
And yes, in our NORMAL hormonal balance, we can’t imagine doing this to a child. But whether this woman is mentally sick or just have an extreme case of PPD, I won’t say that she’s at a state of equilibrium. I know that sometimes, just bad mothers exist, but I can’t imagine anyone holding their baby for the first time just thinking, “damn, I can’t wait to beat the sh*t out of you.” Nope, there’s gotta be other forces at work.

No offense, but women are the only ones who can right out act freaking insane…and then get away with blaming “hormones”. Any man doing the same would be labeled with “roid rage” and arrested. PPD is a MENTAL CONDITION, so saying men can’t be affected simply because different hormones are at work to cause the imbalance is a tad baseless.
This woman is freaking crazy. She doesn’t get a pass even if she does have PPD.
And what would cause this male PPD? My friend has a two year old and a step daughter that has a newborn. When I go to their house, its constant crying, and the two year old drives me up the wall, crying and throwing tantrums. I’ll be lying if I said that I didn’t think of ways to make everyone quiet, but does that mean that I have PPD? Or is it just stress from screaming babies?
Its not a mental condition for me to go crazy in their house or for a man to just want some quiet. It’s just stress. We know the huge effect hormones have in the bodybuilding world, but can’t admit its role in childbirth? Doesn’t sound right.

We know that the effects of hormones in the BB world don’t turn people into sadistic psychopaths…
Just like we know the hormonal effects of childbirth don’t turn women into sadistic psychopaths.
Only sadistic psychopaths torture defenseless 8 month old babies!

Men get PPND not PPD. 10 to 30 percent of fathers experience it. Its kinda like a reverse oedipus complex where the father hates the child for taking his wife away…as a son hates his father for. Trying to steal the mother away.
Its a newly recognized disease…2010 I think
Its been ignored for so long because most professionals helf your POV that its just stress…just like depression in males is underdiagnosed due to social expectations…

Sad…so many mental health professionals write mens mental issues off as having a bad day. That Boys Don’t Cry attitude is so strong…

I agree, but it’s still not hormonal.

Having a child decreases T in males so it is hormonal.
Okay this will be the third time I say that it isn’t an excuse for abusing a child. And lower T is no way comparable to PPD. Lower T levels can come with aging. Should old men be excused from doing violence because of it? This whole “anything a woman can do, men can do better” thing is getting bizarre.

Low T due to age is different than fluctuations to extremes that come with PPND.
These kinds of ups and downs are the same as what happens during roid rage. Roid rage is mood swings. That come when a person screws up his dose and inection spacing.
Having a child decreases T in males so it is hormonal.

Not just that, but how is it being “hormonal” changing anything in regards to where the fault lies?
If you shake a baby, why should anyone care about your hormones?
No. They shoulnt care and no it doesn’t relieve anyone from being at fault. Nikki was just presenting a possibilty for a why. She never said PPD makes the beating ok.
