Legality has nothing to do with it. He is saying all voluntary associations should be legal no matter what they are.

Dude, you’re not making any sense. Reread your post and see if there’s anything wrong with it.

read the word legal in the second sentence as “unregulated” – as in not pertaining to any legal system.

If you want an herbalist to check your prostate they can do so legally. What they can’t do is claim that their check is the equivalent medical procedure performed by a licensed MD, performed to the same standards.

Licensing in many professions in many states comes down to, on a legal level, what a practitioner is able to claim and what they’re able to advertise. As another poster mentioned though, what insurance companies in various fields will say is another matter entirely.

Do you know what the AMA does? You need a license to practice your profession. If you want a license you better not offer services the AMA has designated for other professions.

What other don’t understand is that you can still “protect” consumers with licensing and certification even if you don’t make it illegal to opperate without them. Then everyone has the choice of going to a licensed profession or not.

It is not about any specific examples. It is not about any specific examples. The back and forth about what you can and can’t do and what services can be provided by which person and when and under what circumstances is entirely the point.

Consumers should decide. Not some bureaucrat acting in their own self interest. If you think it is about consumer protection, you are kidding yourself. It’s collusion and protectionism.
