Molyneux on Incels

Yes the Pyramids are still pretty darn impressive, an amazing feat of human toil and ingenuity. But what have the Egyptians done in the many thousands of years since? They did well, but they peaked a little early.

And hopefully they don’t expose their ignorance by talking about it.

They pulled a George Costanza.

Yes, extensive knowledge of history is required by all, for all jobs, and all human relationships. :+1:

If we’re playing the ā€œshow me oneā€¦ā€ then show me one person that works at the absolute limit of their intellectual capabilities at all times.

It’s no longer really a matter of how smart a given person or people are, but how smart does one need to be to succeed as an individual, or society.

I see a guy like Charles Hoskins as pretty damn smart. But do we need 3.5 billion of him?

Or 3 billion, or 5 billion Einstein’s?

What would be the result of that?

Funny, I was typing what I just posited as you posted this.

Great minds, man.

But how about those Moop’s?

If you want to talk about history. Ironic you would say that though, given Molyneux has a master’s in history and references history, albeit incorrectly. So in truth, bringing up history is more relevant to this thread than you believe.

I was going to say Mr. Spock but then I remembered Vulcan mating season.

Your welcome.

A funny little story- I worked as a temp at this place welding and fabricating stuff for the energy industry. There was a full time guy there that was a flagrant moron. Full timers were virtually impossible to fire, and very well paid. Like well over 100+k combined cash and benefits.

He was on 1st shift, and I was on 2nd, but we were both assigned the same task for a while–running a beveler on the nozzle ends of these big heat recapturing things. Anyways, I come in to start my shift and the machine is in about as many pieces as it was made of. The foreman walks me over to it and says ā€œYou’ve been fucked. See if you can do anything with that. See ya at break.ā€. So with my aptitude for mechanical skills being what it is, I put the machine back together and got back to task. Foreman sees this and is very happy. Pats on the back and atta boys abound!

But at the end of the quarter the work is complete and the temps (me) go home. Moron stays and continues to make lots of money and lives the good life.

So who’s smarter there, really? Is it even worth it to be smarter?

He’s only real on TV.

@zecarlo Re: Jersey Shore

Yes, I’m all too familiar. I’ve been there and used to work out in the same gyms as people who would hang out there and the Hamptons in the summer, with me joining sometimes.

Anyone can check google images for ā€œNeptune’s Beach Club Hamptonsā€ to check the old New York, ā€œStrong Islandā€ heyday. :grinning:

Tv is real. It exists.

Imagine giving them an IQ test and then saying it represented all Americans or even all whites. Imagine if all white people were judged based on people who say youse.

It’s not a surprising story, sadly. I once whether with a 70-plus year old woman who ā€œworkedā€ four days per week and made 93k per year. Towards the end of her stay, she wasn’t finishing her sentences.

You’re obnoxious.

No one knows anything yet. Nothing has been debunked or proven.

I remember when people were getting offended that being gay wasn’t a ā€œchoiceā€ but then people got mad when someone mentioned there could be a ā€œgay geneā€. Everyone just wants to get offended, always.

I really don’t know if IQ intelligence can come about from your genetic makeup. Do I think it is possible? yes, I do. If a group of people be it through culture, environment, whatever, facilitated a learning environment and kept breeding doctors then I’d imagine those kids a few generations down the line could very well be great doctors. Again, i don’t know for sure because I’m not a geneticist but it makes sense to me.

It also makes sense to me that many times that I have notice someone incredibly exceptional at the gym they usually come from exceptional parents. I’ve never seen an elite level athlete come from a family (parents, grandparents, great grandparents) that were all duds. I’m sure there are, but I rarely see it with my own eyes. So why couldn’t it be the same for intelligence? I’m only asking the question.

I judge people on an individual basis. I don’t care from what background or color you are, I judge you for you. That’s how I approach my day to day relationships.

If someone told me ā€œhey greenboy your peoples aren’t that great at mathā€ I’ll look into it. If it was shown that my entire family tree was completely math illiterate and therefore caused my brain to be inferior in this topic and therefore I’ll never be good at math I wouldn’t totally dismiss it as ā€œracismā€ but nor would that stop me from attempting to be a mathematician if I wanted to be.

edit: I just thought of that movie now… Gattaca.

It’s not the same for the reasons I stated in my post: brain size doesn’t directly correlate with IQ, environment affects IQ, and IQ has less evidence of heritability amongst disadvantaged populations. You’ve made so many sweeping comments about women, lonely men, and now other races, that you saying ā€œI judge people on an individual basisā€ is honestly hilarious. You really can’t be serious.

You have a shockingly low threshold for what given knowledge should be questioned, and a shockingly high tolerance for questionable knowledge.
