Modern Monetary Theory: A Primer

You’re the mixed drink expert. Why ask me?

I suppose if they “manipulated” the alcohol percent to zero would go a long ways to making it less addictive.

Should the alcohol companies hire people to make their product taste and smell as disgusting as possible?

I know what you use your check on.

Because…they’re not a waste…

That’s not what he said.

Edit: Let me go ahead and explain the meme:
Any amount of “money” can be printed and given out.
But printing large amounts of money will cause inflation and devalue people’s money.
That disincentivizes production and investment, which will decrease production as well.

Its very nature makes it highly addictive, but they do also have flavor and drink experts to design interesting and novel beverages.

And it kills directly. There are no leaps of logic required.

I have to agree with casto. The side effects of alcohol consumption are well known, and alcohol is not marketed as a health drink. When you drink a glass of milk, do you know what you’re getting? The cow it came from was heavily medicated and fed junk. They are “milked” by machines that transport the milk in plastic tubes. By the time the milk gets to the grocery store, it has been bathing in polyethylene for days. You are getting much more than milk, but are microplastics, antibiotics, and other junk on the food label? Of course not. It is undeniable that most of our food is poisoned, and this is especially harmful to children. As a libertarian, my answer wouldn’t be to ban this junk. It would be to require transparency around what we are getting and allow consumers to decide if they want it or not.

You’ve never taken a gander at Michelobe Ultras campaign, huh?

It’s all about strong healthy women doing athletic stuff, equality, etc.

Now, it doesn’t say explicitly that it is good for you, but neither do any of the crap food products.

I’d say they’re neck and neck.

Hah, yes I’ve seen it. I don’t think many adults would view it as a health drink… just as a better alternative to heavy beers. What’s been happening to our food over the last few decades is much more pernicious. If you’ve traveled abroad for any length of time, the difference is obvious. You can eat the same foods, but you will smell better, feel better, and lose weight. American children are being poisoned, and we allow this to happen without forcing food companies to include all of the chemicals they are feeding our kids on the nutrition label.

Exactly. Got to make that profit, especially at the expense of others.

Ahhhh no… you must change the meaning of what he said to keep your economic myths on life support.
Setting up a system that increases production to soak up the money that is deployed, so those products can be purchased. Thereby combating inflation. Very simple to understand except for you.
That is what he said.

Correct. Maybe junk food shouldn’t be sold to minors?

Yes they do. But their products are only sold to adults. I believe Joe Camel was eventually taken out of advertising because it was seen to market cigs to those who weren’t of age.

Good point.

Doesn’t this hold true for all alcohol companies?

Transparency is a better answer than banning. Agreed. But it won’t happen as it would heavily curtail profits. The last thing a mega-corporation wants is transparency which may bring competition by people who believe in selling a product they can be proud of. Not allowing the bottom line to control their every decision.

But as Castoli should say, what about those who cannot resist the temptation of alcohol?

You just miss the point of this discussion. Castoli is against the evils of capitalism. All capitalism. He is the champion of “all” victims of capitalism, except the alcoholics who have lost everything. The only reason alcohol was mentioned was to expose his inconsistences.

Who cannot read the labels? The dietary ignorant and those with zero self discipline and don’t care what it says. I for one, needs no more information than is already supplied.

What inconsistency? You have to pretend that things that are sold to adults only(for a reason) is the same thing as selling garbage to children.

Is everything that may be in the product on the label?

And maybe because you are in the minority who makes it a point to read Testosterone and is therefore far more familiar with these things than the average person.

Okay. I get it. You don’t believe the adults need any more dietary transparency. But there needs more transparency for the children?

No. Transparency for all things sold.

There is more than enough information on processed foods to allow you to know you should choose something else.

Is this your reason for not disclosing all information in the product you want people to depart with their money.

Do you want all food supplied with a MSDS?
