Modern Monetary Theory: A Primer

Stanford is not technically an Ivy League school but is often dubbed the Harvard of the west. It is not an Ivy League school because of sports.

And what was your point? That colleges aren’t as liberal as told.

I do like that definition.
You don’t think you have just said nothing?

Coming to a conclusion is not the same at arriving at a correct solution…

No greed. The business doesn’t have to move overseas but does so to make more money for those who don’t really need it.

So the advertising, marketing and employment of food scientists don’t have an affect on purchasing?

Who is to say they don’t need it? And why does it have to be about need in someone else’s decisions? Do you need ALL the money you make? Do you need a 2-bedroom house?

Yes, they do, but they have no effect on the responsibility of the purchaser.

Do spoons make people fat? Do pencils and pens fail tests?

At first I had a roommate and it was a rental.

Yes do they need another house or car. Is that a need or want? Some people don’t have a roof over their head even when employed, that is a need. Not the excess you live by. Some people have a difficult time eating on a daily basis. That IS a need!

Employing food scientists to make food as addicting as possible to sell more to make more profit is not the same as having a free choice. To suggest otherwise is no more than being purposefully ignorant and gaslighting people.

What about cigs? Alcohol? Weed?

Even if addicting - it is still a choice and on the person making the choice.

This is just so rich!
You condemn and ridicule everyone who is ignorant of MMT, yet find dietary ignorance is okay.

Cheezy mac & what ever food byproduct is artificially good, but its not heroin good. Not by a long shot.

What these food scientists do is take as much agricultural/industrial byproduct and try to make it more palatable.

This is not to say that it was already palatable and they’re trying to make it more so. No. Its industrial waste that would otherwise become peletized food for livestock or pets. It would taste like hot tar or some other crap if you tasted the raw ingredient.

So thats one gigantic misunderstanding that is portrayed through mass media- “Ahh! They have scientists making it more palatable! Aaargh!”.

Well, thats because they’re feeding you shit. Not so that you become addicted.

Solution- if anybody has to tell you or put it on the label that its made with real anything- its shit. Don’t eat it.

Unless you’re the type to eat a squirt gun because its cherry colored. Theres no help for them.

Never heard of weed being addictive, apart from the drug warrior liars.

So making things purposefully addictive, for the sake of profit, has the same effect as a free choice… Man the pretzel you have to turn yourself into to keep your garbage outlook on reality on life support.

So put all the blame on the people w/o a peep of criticism for those who strive to take advantage of this for the sake of profit maximization. And then pretend it’s all about free choice w/o any interference of capitalists.

This is some of the worst logic I have ever come across.

No this is rich.

You deny the effects of advertising, marketing and the work done by food scientists on garbage food. Then pretend it’s about “free choice”.

I’m the one who is mainly ridiculed for believing in economic truths. If I bring up that most people on here believe in economists and by extension politicians, who have been fear mongering about the debt for decades despite the fact that nothing has happened and they’ve been continuously wrong and will continue to be wrong. Because the budget of the currency issuer does not work the same as the currency user. So keep following that crowd. But economic ignorance is not okay. It not only affects your life but those around you. It helps to keep their lives miserable. It, in my estimation, is worse than dietary ignorance. DO NOT let them keep lying to you so they can keep you under control. Question their premise.

Please explain. If you can.

There is enough information freely available on this wonderful capitalist invention called the internet talking about how absolutely horrible processed foods are for you. There are also two great books recently published (“Metabolical” and “Animal, Food, Junk”) on the topic. You know how to avoid eating crap food - don’t fucking buy it.

I don’t care about advertising whether it is truth or false. I make my own dietary decisions based on my research. Dietary ignorance is no excuse, except for the ignorant.

If I can find it, it is “free choice.” You can wring your hands for the ignorant if you want. I, myself, don’t care. Buyer Beware, Pencil Neck!

But dietary ignorance carries much greater consequence.

You are trying to claim that marketing and addictiveness has the same effect as free choice. Clearly this is not the case or every person on the planet would be incredibly obese and eating nothing but candy and soda all day (not that that’s far off for many). But there is a large population who makes the free choice to not partake of crappy food despite the advertising, addictiveness and food scientists. So, your logic falls flat on its face. It still boils down to a choice.
It’s like the fat acceptance people that say “95% of diets fail” - no, 19/20 people don’t adhere to the diet long enough to make a true difference. Therefore the diet didn’t fail - peoples adherence to it did.

Physically? No, but it can definitely be mentally addictive like steroids or any other drug that makes you feel a certain desired way. You realize I was GC for a chain of pain management clinics / medical marijuana clinics right? I also have ownership stake in 8 medical marijuana clinics in various states.

Nobody had to make sugar addictive. It is well known that sugar and fats are addictive to the brain. You defend people that align with your fucked up view on life and trash the people that don’t regardless of logic. At least stay consistent.

What about the marketing on capitalism and all the work done by politicians, corporations, and everyone else to keep it? Where is the free choice there following your logic? So, are we all absolved from responsibility there due to that? It does not seem you think so.
