Yesterday I went to Royals game with a bunch folks I work with. As everyone knows, it gets pretty stinkin’ hot during the summertime here in the Midwest, so I decided to wear sleeveless shirt. After the game, we all decided to hit a local bar for some drinks. When I walked up to the bar, the bartendar informed me that he couldn’t serve me because I was wearing a sleeveless shirt. I was floored! Granted this was by no means a “classy” establishment-a sports bar no less. And I wasn’t wearing some dirty wife-beater, but a Deisel sleeveless shirt.
Luckily a friend of mine let me wear one of his t-shirts. So here I am, a life-long Kansas City native and MU fan, wearing a Nebraska Cornhusker t-shirt. Well an hour later my friend had to go so I gave his t-shirt back, thinking it would be no big deal. Just as I was ready to order like three appitizers and more drinks for my friends, another bartender told he could not serve me. So I say: "Is my money no good to you? His reply: “It doesn’t matter.”
What makes this even more annoying is that three of our lady friends all had on sleeveless tees and tank tops, but had no probs. What’s the difference? The same thing happened later that day at a strip club. A STRIP CLUB FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!! So some skanky stripper can rub her dirty crotch in some Schmuck’s face for $20, but my bare arms cause a prob.
I’ve never been one to make a big stink over gender discrimination, but if I had been a female and walked in wearing a soaking wet tank top to either one of these establishments, I probably could have gotten all my drinks on the house.
Sorry about the rant, but I just really had to get that off my chest.
