Maybe SOME Good News from the FDA

“The data available strongly supports the claim that large pharmaceutical companies have handled large fines as the price of doing business, but it also suggests that neither the fines, nor the corporate integrity agreements, have altered their behavior. Fourteen companies can be categorized as repeat offenders,” the authors note New analysis questions whether multi-billion-dollar settlements with pharma actually deter | Emory University School of Law | Atlanta, GA

Oh ok, well if you would now like to have an intelligent conversation then that’s one thing.

Come on, man. $11B in profit is greater than all that. Stop being a sheep…

For what?

You are assuming that there was some kind of advanced knowledge of something that has barely been studied yet.

Had that knowledge already existed, it would not be something to be studied, and all of these corporations would have capitalized on it previously.

You have this whole cart/horse thing all screwed up.

Medicinal marijuana is now available in 28 states + D.C. It has been available for 20 years in the state of California. Where have all the double-blind randomized studies been? After 20 years where are all the heroin crazed zombies walking the streets? Big Pharma wasn’t interested in clinical trials until they realized that they couldn’t hold back the tide of the public, it was only then when they became interested. Just like what is being done with cellular medicine. It is being purposely kept off the market as it will negatively effect Pharma’s profits. So we have a healthcare system that is primarily run for the benefit of Big Pharma not the public This system sucks, big time!

The people already knew and refused to wait for science to catch up while they suffered.

Big Pharma could not compete with marijuana and they could make more money selling their garbage drugs, that don’t offer the relief of marijuana or the comparatively benign side effects. So nature won again. This is the same profit over people mentality that is keeping the superior cellular medicine off the market. All the while making people suffer so Big Pharma can make more money. A total disgrace!

Is this due to medicinal marijuana? Why isn’t this happening in every state where it’s medicinally legal? California has it legalized for medicinal use for about 20 years. And what about the addicts created by legal painkillers?

Again is this due to medicinal marijuana or legally prescribed painkillers?

It is impossible to know what has caused the increase in heroin use and death.

They’re dead:

Still predicated on the idea that pharma knows all of its applications (which it doesn’t) and blocked it because of this.

You ask where the studies are because there are so few, then assume that there is a body of knowledge that pharma was privy to as their motivation to stop its legalization/use.

Which one is it? There is a huge body of knowledge or there is none?

So keep medicinal marijuana off the market, just in case?

:disapproval:

The public was clamoring for the medicinal use of it as they already knew what science(double-blind randomized) studies still didn’t confirm. Why did it take so long to get studies on marijuana approved?

Man, people like to get high. That doesn’t mean that they intuitively know exactly what some obscure or yet undiscovered substance does.

Try to remember- People weren’t smoking dope to treat cancer because they knew for a fact that substance X elicits response Y from endocannabinoid receptor Z.

They were smoking it to get high and have the munchies. Then they said- “Hey Doc, when I get high, I eat better and have more energy after chemo.”.

So your claim to some intuitive knowledge of this cornucopia (which has yet to be proven) is simply false. Its based on doctors saying “Ok, well if you think it helps…”

Which became “Hey, maybe there is something to that”

And finally “OK, lets look into it.”.

I understand your thinking though because my sister does it too. We go hiking for mushrooms. Some are good, some are bad, and some will kill you. I like to cook with them and provide them to friends that also like them. This one- the Maitake- has some type of oligopolysaccharide that might act as an immunomodulator. MIGHT.

But none of that was known before hand. It was found knowledge as I looked up how to cook them. Created by some inquisitive people with PhD.s in a laboratory, funded by an NIH grant.

But my sister wants to lay claim to some secret intuition that floats through humanity on some unseen wavelength, pervading our thoughts and driving us towards these nutraceutical cornucopia. It fucking magical thinking at its finest.

Me, I just like them with chicken or beef. The primary health benefit is that you have to walk through the woods to get them. (usually a big fuckin’ hill)
