Maybe Im a bit ahead of myself, but

Then it became $1 for any size, with unlimited refills. I remember being a kid and refills were the cost of another drink. Restaurants would advertise ‘free refills’ as a big deal.

So true.. I miss this so much. My kids don’t watch TV, however. They also don’t have phones or devices with internet access. I do let them play video games on the Switch, because I prefer video games to TV (might be a hot take). Video games are more community oriented and engaging their brain with puzzles and challenges, as well as test patience.. unlike mindless TV shows.

We had tear apart chicken. 2 roasters and a big bowl of potatoes on the table, and He’d just stand back and let the fur fly. And fly it certainly did.

My 3rd grade school picture.

Ever read Berton Roueché?

"My father was a firm believer in the survival of the fittest. There were four of us children, and at breakfast every morning, my father would see that there were only three biscuits on the plate. He wanted us to learn how to fight for what we wanted."

On a serious note, I think that the people who say they don’t have time to cook have a legitimate point. They just have worse options available.

Cooking takes time, especially for a family. As a private chef, I’m not really selling people my awesome food, I’m selling them their time. Even if they’re multi-millionaires.

Edit: To the original point, I have 0 confidence a lawsuit or tax would work. Thinking outside the box, I’d like to see a free gap year (maybe done at community colleges) that allows for part-time work while teaching home ec, shop class, and basic finance. I think that would go a long way for several intertwined issues.
