Mass Shooter Demographics USA

Yes.

I think.

Wait… No?

At first, I could see no trends here. Then, I noticed that gun crime seemed to decrease with increases in the country’s distance to the equator. That’s really weird.

Melting pot versus homogeneous societies.

Jamaica, Honduras, and Uganda ARE known as great melting pots, I suppose.

Honduras actually is probably more of a melting pot (with it’s miscegenation between Europeans, African and indigenous) than the USA, wich looks more like a bunch of separate pots.

Hell, I thought people were trying to leave Honduras. Had no idea Europeans and Africans were moving there.

I was speaking of US versus Norway and Finland which are other predominantly white non poor countries. I appreciate you trying to be cute though.

The USA is more of a potluck, where everyone brings something different and we all get to enjoy each other’s dish.

They did, not anymore.
But yeah, melted pot would be more accurate then.

Farther from the Equator, like I pointed out. That’s the only thing I see. Yep. Distance.from.the.equator.

I actually mentioned in other thread that ethnic homogeneity was likely a factor to consider, along with differences in education, wealth distribution, culture.

In the neighborhood I work in, shootings go up during the summer and other periods of nice weather. People tend to be out and about more, and they are more likely run into people they have problems with. Cold weather, which people further north have more of, causes people to spend more time inside, therefore fewer opportunities for chance meeting engagements.

Jamaica’s motto is out of many one people. Its cuisine is evidence of its multiracial roots. Bob Marley was half white. Jamaica is probably a good example of a melting pot as the people typically see themselves as Jamaican rather than identifying by skin color or with hyphens.

I wonder if kids not having school is a factor as well.

Not that I can see. My post was in response to NickVair’s article about gun crime generally. Also kids in my area go to school year around.

There’s nothing like unseasonably warm days on government check weekends in the cooler seasons though!

Been going to a Jamaican restaurant here for 18 years. Just closed due to imminent domain. Ate 18 pieces of jerk chicken in one sitting

You can’t say this about anything positive.

A low-trust country versus two high-trust countries.

There are several qualities of the US that highly lend to alienation, which is part of my theory on why spree shootings are an American phenomenon.

One of these characteristics I’ve mentioned before is the breakdown of social institutions and pressures, including the family unit and schools, that kept borderline people in check (I’m not talking about BPD.) These institutions were deliberately destroyed and social norms were intentionally done away with.

I am considering starting a thread on my and anyone else’s theories as to why spree shootings are an American phenomenon. The dimwit Ted Cruz couldn’t answer the question of why they are. That he lacks the wisdom and insight to at least theorize why this is so shows the sort of shitbags we have for presidential candidates.

Book of possible interest on the subject.

It’s a mental health issue. Broken homes, overmedication, lack of emotional support, exceedingly violent material consumed by minds too young to fully process it, etc.

Would be interested in following along if you start this thread.
