Yeah. I noticed that too.

And that’s why me think that punch was not really justified. The dad could have just pushed the guy around…

Meh, instinct… I guess…
LOL. That is how most men would act unless they themselves were smaller or weaker than average.

It is funny though how acting like a guy is wrong now.

This man protected his kid. That’s all. he didn’t kill anyone…and frankly, the day you can’t knock out the grown fucker who kicks your kid for no reason is going to be a sad day.

It’s just an ugly situation.

I feel bad for the mother.

I can understand that, but the truth is, if her son is out kicking little kids, her son is a danger to people around him.

Kind of odd that the dad didn’t even turn around to see if his son was okay. That would be my primary concern, whether I threw a punch or not.

Fine I still think nobody should answer in this thread.

As a father of a child with downs I feel bad for both parents in this situation, NOT every situation needs a bad guy or someone to blame. Shit happens. Monday morning QB is always easy to sit back and say this or that.

Again when we go into social situations it can be very stressful because you cannot predict how a special needs child will react sometimes. This is not about parenting, the downs child will not respond to parenting like normal children. They have no long term memory in a sense.

My apologies for using the word “retard” previously, DJ. I meant no harm.

If anyone comes near my family and lays a hand on them be it wife girlfriend son whatever it is at the time, disability or not I would never feel bad about hurting that person, no matter how bad I hurt them. Thats just me though

As a dad, I can relate to the child-protecting sentiment.
But c’mon! He’s basically a child himself. If you saw a small boy attacking your child, would you punch him?
A small boy isn’t capable of doing to the same level of damage with a kick that a full grown male can.

I’m not saying it was right, but your comparison is poor.

I think it’s an all around shitty situation for everyone involved.

I don’t know what the absolute right thing to do is, but I can’t condemn the guy for reacting like he did.
pretty much my exact feelings on this. cept you said it better than i prolly could, so my contribution is just to quote you.

ha!

yall should see what I do to them Down ass mofos

as much as I hate to agree with X, this is the truth.

we have a frequent flyer in our Emergency department, a 20 year old male who has downs, and PTSD, he was severely abused by his father when very young. kid is unpredictable and has temper tantrums and can be violent for no apparent reason.

mom brings him into the ED all the time for whatever reason, and he has on multiple occasions hit, bit or kicked staff members, and one time even picked up a chair in the waiting room and threw it and hit an elderly lady and a little kid and that kids mom.

the only thing that has saved us from serious injury is this is a very small guy, maybe 5’4" and 150lbs?

on the one hand you feel sorry for the mother and the messed up kid, but at what point does the safety and well being of all his potential “victims” trump the sympathy his disability and bad situation warrant?

I’m referring to the people implying that they would beat the man to a bloody pulp. While I’m all for protecting your child some folks on here seem to look for any excuse to try and ACT LIKE A TOUGH GUY ON THE INTERNET.
fixed that for ya :)
Pretty much. lol. Like I said I won’t second guess the man on the scene, if he thinks it was necessary it might well have been. It’s the internet tough guys who like to talk about all the bad shit they’d do when in reality they’d probably just stand there in shock. not calling anyone in particular out, it’s just a recurring theme on this site some days.

The only thing I know for sure, is that I don’t know if that kid’s a danger to anyone at this point.

I see a situation that went bad, that involves people I wouldn’t know from a can of spray paint. So, I can’t make that kind of judgement call… on anyone involved.

^fair enough.

That must have been an important phone call.

I agree.

He’d never punch a retard, but he had no problem punching a hippie.

Your dad sounds like a good man.
