Malaysian Airlines Flight 370

The story gets weirder by the minute. Yesterday I saw CNN and they said that the Chinese have satellite pictures showing crash debris, some of it as big as 72’ x 79’. And they sat on this tidbit since Sunday.

Now none of it can be found after rescuers going to the area. Rolls Royce made the engines for the plane and they have their version of On Star hooked up to the plane. RR says that the engines were running 4 hours after the transponder went out.

I think it’s as simple as this. The plane decompressed causing everyone to pass out, then the plane flew on until it ran out of gas. Just like happened to that golfer in a private jet a decade ago.

Most probable. It may have been somewhat off-course and the search area(s) are so huge, they just haven’t stumbled across it yet.

A decompressed cabin would be a huge blow to Boeing’s rep in the industry, buy their stock now.

This whole thing is bizarre as hell

Why would someone disconnect the communication systems?

Yeah I don’t even know what to think of this.

I don’t put a lot of faith in claims the communication system was turned off. Same with claims the radar tracked the plane making a turn off its scheduled route. I’m not saying I discount those possibilities, I’m just skeptical of them.

If I was leading the search, my primary search location would have been where the plane likely would have run out of fuel if it traveled approximately along its scheduled course. When that came up empty I would consult my experts of how much the course might have deviated in the event of sudden decompression and continue searching the expanded area.

When that still came up empty, I would have the search teams cover the possible area it could have gone down if it had made the claimed dramatic shift in course. I’d also have all areas in range of the plane investigated where someone might have used as a covert air strip. At some point you do have to check out the conspiracy possibilities.

Air pirates! …or a Lost sequel gorilla marketing stunt.

Also, I feel like the guys that boarded the plane with stolen passports didn’t have anything to do with it. It sounded like they were using the passports to seek asylum from Iran.

Would you expect anything less from the United States news?

So…how long before Hollywood makes a movie out of this?

The plane’s gonna turn up somewhere. The only people still aboard will be the ones who happened to be asleep when “the event” took place.

I’m not saying it was aliens but it was aliens.

Racist.

There’s no doubt at all that the communication systems were off. If they hadn’t been, civilian ATC would have seen the plane recross the Malaysian peninsula (or the Vietnamese ATC would have seen it enter their airspace). The only reason that there was so much confusion about where the plane had gone for the first few days was that the transponder was off.

I had been leaning towards some kind of perfect storm of malfunctions, perhaps caused by a blowout or a fire, so that a whole pile of systems were taken out, but not quite enough to stop the plane from flying on for hours on some kind of “ghost flight.” The ghost flight theory is dead now, though - the plane made a number of turns, using known waypoints, that apparently only a fully trained 777 pilot could have performed. It was flown professionally after the transponder was turned off.

So it looks like it was either some kind of weird suicide-in-the-most-remote-place-possible (south Indian Ocean), or a landing on a remote airstrip. The latter shouldn’t be possible - a 777 is not a stealth jet, and post-911, most countries are supposed to send fighter jets after unknown planes - but it may turn out that some countries are less capable in this department than they’d like to admit. Malaysia’s air force has effectively admitted that an unknown plane was able to enter and pass through its airspace unmolested; I also saw something about how the radar in the Andaman Islands is not all always on. Still, if you were planning to steal a plane this big and land it on a remote airstrip, you would have to expect interference from the local air force. Neither option makes much sense.

No I mean illegal aliens not the outer space kind.

Oh. Ma bad. I’m kinda prejudiced against racistses.

Makes me wonder though, Are space aliens legal, or illegal by default? They might not be from another country, but they are from another planet and they don’t pay taxes.

If that plane suddenly reappears with a bunch of grey anchor babies on it I’m gonna be pissed.

Well as long as they are not soaking up tax dollars that they did not contribute to… Aliens are okay in my book.

Damn you Jose and Juan!!! I bet you they stole the plane to transport tacos into the US illegally

/sarcasm in case no one got it
